I like Belk because of variety, sales, promotions and stylishness. However, like most retail, prices have gotten more expensive. The clearance system is ridiculous now. Find color sticker on tag, look at one sign to determine percentage off for that color. Then, remembering the percentage number off and the original price of the piece, look at another sign for how much that item is. The store scanner may or may not recognize the item to give a price.. Want to avoid the confusion? Could try the app scanner, but it's not without confusion. Often, the app prices an item lower than in store. Catch the difference and show the app price to a clerk and they may adjust it or might not. No idea what the factor is. Also, the app often prices a range such as $10-$14. What? Can I pick? How do I know which one? Not good enough. Red Dot was much easier.
At one time, an employee was never far away. Now, one can be found at either men's or junior's or makeup, but rarely one at more than one counter for long periods. Often, searching for an open sales counter outside of makeup is a challenge. I prefer to buy clothing in department for clothing as clerks get rewarded for sales. Makeup clerks never assist me in clothing.
The final thing about Belk's evolution is availability. Nothing is shipped to the store for a customer if the store doesn't have the item. It was a nice quality other stores didn't have when a purchase could be sent from another location to be picked up in store instead of charging the consumer shipping. I spend much less online with belk...
Read moreRude, unprofessional and negative employees! Upon walking in the store was met with nasty glares and aggressive stares. Was never once asked if I needed help finding anything. Instead when I asked one of the employees if they could tell me where the pitie section was she very aggressively yells at me they don't have one. Never once offered anymore assistance. Instead acted as if I was putting her out of her way for asking. The employees don't even look like employees. They wear no name tags so I never who is a customer and who is an employee. Then to top it off went into the dressing room and the employee that did not want to help me had the audacity to literally follow me into the fitting room and stand outside eavesdropping on me as I was trying clothing on. Then when I went to check out and asked to use my coupon the woman running the register didn't even want to scan my coupon to see if it applied. Instead tried to tell me that the coupon didn't apply. WELL IT DID! After I asked again for her to scan it and she did. The behavior of the employees in this store are appalling! Belk really needs to look into hiring people that actually enjoy their jop, appreciate it and know how to treat paying customers. Because of how repulsive the behavior of the employees are in this store I won't be shopping...
Read moreI've only dealt with Belk twice for online orders. BOTH times the customer service was lacking. The first time I had ordered some gifts online for Christmas presents. I ended up receiving the wrong items so I contacted customer service. They had no idea how to help me. It was a nightmare. I ended up having to take the wrong item back to the store and had to fight for a full refund for what I was actually charged for. I never did receive what I ordered. The second time I made an online order a few days ago. I noticed right after I authorized payment that they had the wrong item. I immediately tried contacting customer service via phone and got a voice message. Then I emailed them and tried to do a virtual chat but neither one worked. So now I'm getting the wrong item AGAIN and will be unable to return it. This is the LAST time I will ever shop with Belk again. They don't even...
