I bought a bike on 10/11/24. The brakes were a little loose on the back and I asked if they could tighten them. They said their bike builder is there on Mondays, I was told all bikes were ready to go but the first two bikes had low air and the last one was good for the brake issue. I left the bike and came in on Monday 10/14/24 to pick it up and then they brought the bike up. The associate said they worked on it and fixed it.
First thing I did was touch the brake. It was not enough touched. He called someone and the manager came down. She was already dismissive when I expressed my concerns. I'm not sure if she saw me as stupid, young or the fact that I was a little darker. I'm not too concern with this, just food for thought, but her attitude was something that seriously annoyed me. First she to tells me that they fixed it and to looked at it when you can clearly see that they even touch it. She then tells me maybe that is the way the bike is built.
I told her that I tested the same floor models and they're brakes were tighter but they were worn as people had sat and used them while this was untouched, the only think was the back brake was not too tight. Because I seem like a liar she pulled one of the other bikes and the brakes were tight to the touch. At this time she sees I'm not budging and she takes the bike to the back. She brings it back after about 5 minutes and said the bike builder tightened it and it was a rider preference to have your brakes loose or not.
The back brake is the most important on a bike. If we don't know about bikes it's best not to opinionate at all. Saying they fixed it or that is just the way the bike is and being overly insistent on it is not great customer service. I had to continue to insist to get the bike worked on. I have never had an issue at Academy but this definitely leaves a bad taste...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you're looking for anything to do with fishing, Academy is the place to go. They've got the best fishing tackle when you can't make it all the way to BassPro. But, hunting gear is a different story! I just feel like they don't have a great selection for hunting. I love to go in and look at the NorthFace clothing but YIKES š³ you better have your savings with you if you intend on buying any clothing there. Even their generic lines are expensive. $20 for a pair of no name brand black leggings! I don't think so! They have loads of shoes... kind of the same thing as the clothing, very steep prices. I will say we had our dose of excitement when we arrived. As we were coming thru the door, some guy ran out the door with a big bag and didn't pay for it before doing so. It took Owasso police a very long time to get there too! I'm glad nobody was injured. They'd have been dead before 1st...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI like a few things about this place. I never have to worry about being pestered while I'm just looking around. It bothers me more than most. Still, if I need help, it's quickly there . I like that they have at least something that resembles a selection of darts equipment. Even though it's not much, it's as good as we get in the U.S. basically. Their fishing gear selection is wonderful. I'm guessing the same with other sports. Besides those mentioned, golf is the only other one I care much about. Their price points are what they should be. No reason to buy elsewhere for the same price knowing taxes will stay in our community. It's a clean, well lit environment with everything from horseshoes to hand grenades... Substitute clothing for grenades, maybe. I'll...
