Belk — Local services in Oxford

To no fault of the management or employee's, this store does not keep men's clothing and footwear merchandise very well stocked. I can't speak to the rest of the store. I have depended on Belks in the past for dress clothes and dress footwear. That means, suits, blazers, button down shirts, ties polishable dress shoes and the lot. It now seems the "bean counters" have taken the on site retailers out of the retail business. Very little Big and Tall items, very little stock in good name brand footwear in popular sizes, it's just a mess. This in an affluent University/College town that has many athletes, sponsors, parents, and fans that dress up for games. There's a history of it in this town. It's just bad business when you have so many people coming to a town that grows 4-5x's in population during the fall and spring seasons of classes. Graduations, games, church, and other events...that's lost money! More importantly, lost patronage. It's not management, it's Corporate goons thinking they know better based on fixed numbers or algorithms that do not reflect the actual customer base in Oxford Mississippi, it's in constant flux. Some of us do like to dress respectfully, despite what people want or say. Some of us have to, we live and work here. I don't know what I'm getting on line all the time, so hands on is the only way I can shop. Put merchandise back in your stores, PLEASE!!! I'll travel to Memphis and take my business there if I have to, but I want to support the people who work in your store. Our people...

I came to buy some suit jackets with my family for a wedding rehearsal dinner. We drove over 30 miles to come to your store in Oxford MS. Once we arrived we started to make our selections. After trying on some suit jackets we were told that we couldn’t try them on. And that they now had to be quarantined. The female employee made it seem as if there was a problem with us. I couldn’t assume it was because of Covid due to CDC guidelines on Covid transferring with just touch. I’m not sure how y’all expect to make money if people can’t try on the clothes they need to purchase. As we all know different clothing makers don’t all fit the same. With all the different styles and options in suits one may need to try on a few to find the right size. Suit jackets aren’t exactly cheap, so what do y’all plan on doing to fix this broken system and provide your customers with a way of...

I have always loved pretty much everything Belk has had to offer. However, on my recent visit I was looking for a couple of items that ended up taking me to the back of the store. I wasn't happy to discover that the only registers open were at the front of the store. For someone like me who has bad knees and now a bad back as well, walking all the way back to try to find a register that was open AND didn't have a huge line due to the big sale they were running, made me want to bawl like a baby, especially after I went past the 2nd register at the back that's usually open. I mean, really, especially less than 2 weeks before Christmas when you're running a big sale, you'd think you'd have more registers open NOT fewer....
