Wow! What an unknown secret. The storefront is small and easily missed; plus you have to drive past it when heading west on 78 to reach a median cross and turn around.

If you find this store, it will have your supplies needed to create authentic Mexican cuisine at home.

Furthermore, it also has a deli that has cooked pollo (chicken) dishes, carnitas (pork rendered in its fat), and tamales (chicken, pork and cheese).

We tried the carnitas - 8 out of 10 (excellent, but there is store that serves more succulent), and the tamales - 10 out of 10 (these taste exactly like the ones my wife's grandmother made - and like my wife's - authentic).

You can purchase raw al pastor (fried pork for taco meat). All you have to do is throw the contents of a bag they give you in a skillet with oil and heavy garlic powder, and you will love it. Truly, if you have never had al pastor, you are missing out on one of the best flavors in the world. The preparation takes hours, but that work has been done for you.

They have fresh tortillas and Mexican donuts. A Mexican donut is wort a try, too, especially if you find American donuts on the sweet side. These are slightly sweet, a perfect compliment to coffee.

Their vegetable selection is fresh, but small, and geared for Mexican dishes.

Man, everything here is delicious!! Tamales, chicarones, barbacoa, all of the coconut and tamarind sweets, everything! My parents have retired to Mexico, and I think they only come back to visit me so they can get tamales from La Morenita. They say they're the best they've found, and I'm inclined to believe them. I’ve been to Texas , Florida you name it but nothing comes close to this gem right here in Oxford, AL . We are the luckiest bunch to have the best authentic delicious Mexican favorites. I just think they will open up a restaurant soon enough....
