Seafood City Supermarket — Local services in Oxnard

The food is great but man the customer service at the grill is less than that of a 16 year old getting their first job during high school. Seriously you’ll be served faster at Costco on a holiday weekend while Costco is short staffed. Been there 2 times both times had to wait 30-45 minutes to wait in line to pay at the register. First time was when it was new so that was understandable but second time I was literally the second in line and I started to get help, got passed to another worker and then just dropped. I’m standing there waiting to keep ordering and I just keep getting ignored. The guy next to me as well. We’re both non Filipinos. Idk if that made any difference but we both did notice that the Filipinos were getting full service while us (Mexican) and (Caucasian) just ignored. The guy ended up leaving the line and walked out and just left his half order on the belt line. Staff were so confused and I’m like, really? It’s called common sense. Dude got fed up waiting and being ignored. Last time I visit the grill. I gave them 2 shots and while the foods great the lack of service is what does it for me. We live a couple of hours away but still choose to drive here for our Filipino grocery needs. Unfortunately, we’ve had repeated issues with food quality, especially at the Grill City food area.

On one visit, we bought several food items. When we got home, one rice cake already had mold. By the next day, it was fully covered and clearly unsafe to eat. I emailed the store with photos and received a response saying someone from the store would call me, but no one ever did.

On a later visit, my mom picked up another rice cake. I immediately noticed a sour smell and returned it right away. The cashier processed the return, but no apology. The manager came to void the transaction but didn’t even acknowledge me. She was busy talking to the cashier. I wrote my number on the return receipt and asked for a call, but again, no one followed up.

This isn’t about the cost — it’s about food safety. Spoiled items should never be sold. This has now happened to us twice, which makes me wonder how often things slip through. Very disappointing, especially from a store we’ve supported despite...

The selection here is magnificent!!! I have been to Island Pacific, 99 ranch, H-Mart, to name a few - and by far, this was the most jam-packed Asian grocer with inventory of all genres. The produce selection was full of colorful vegetables and fruits, and the seafood/meat section had heaps of deliciousness. You can purchase a fish and have them fry it for you! The line for the hot food was poppin, as well as the bakery. They had beautiful cakes, fresh bread, and pastries! I am so glad this is off of the Freeway, making it very accessible. The cashiers and stockers in the isles were friendly and helpful. 🐔Please bring some fried chicken skins & I will be here every week. 🍗 I can't wait to update you when I try the hot foods and I can't wait to get a fish fry 🐟 on my next trip.
