My immediate disclaimer is that I know it's hard to truly live up to hype such as that which has surrounded this place. Also, comparisons to other restaurants are included for frame of reference. I've had Cane's before, when it opened up in Azusa, and I felt similarly back then to the way I do now. The chicken is pretty good. It's breaded in such a way that the amount of grease and acidity isn't for everyone, but I assume that anyone who goes here knows to expect greasy food. The meat itself is pretty fresh, but very slightly gummy in texture. Sometimes the breading clumps in a way that I'm not too fond of. Most of the combos come with the same assortment of sides, which are mixed in quality. The fries are akin to the sort of crinkle cut that you would expect from the frozen food section at a convenience store. In my opinion, even Del Taco does crinkle cut fries better. The Texas Toast is good. It's buttery and thick. The coleslaw is mediocre, in my opinion. If you're on the fence about coleslaw in general, you probably won't really want it. It's a bit too acidic and bland. The lemonade and tea are SWEET. I understand that this is the expectation, as Cane's comes from the South, where excessive amounts of sugar are commonplace. I ordered a regular Arnold Palmer to tone down the sweetness of the lemonade, but the tea itself is so sweet that I don't think it made much of a difference. I'll probably use unsweetened in the future. The sauce is not really my favorite. There' is only one choice in sauce, which brings me to my biggest issue with Cane's, which is lack of variety. I understand that they "stick to their guns" and have "one love," (which is chicken fingers), but I think they're limiting themselves. For the sake of comparison, In-n-out has a similarly simple menu, but even they allow more options for customization. I suppose it also helps that I enjoy their sauce much more than Cane's, which is too salty and acidic for my taste. I would enjoy more sauce options (akin to every single other chicken restaurant) and maybe a couple more sides to mix and match (the best part of restaurants like Popeye's). Hopefully, as Cane's continues to expand, so will...
Read moreHeard a lot of good things about this place and wanted to check them out. Figured I'd go after lunch rush to avoid the crowds. Went about 1:15 on a weekday and waited 30 minutes in the drive through line. Ordered the box combo (4 fingers, fries, coleslaw, bread & drink) for $12.66 (with tax.) I figured if they were so busy and having to wait so long, that the food would at least be hot and fresh. Nope. Chicken fingers were soggy and limp, taste was bland. Fries were so so - like your basic frozen crinkle cut fries that can sometimes be awesome if their hot and crisp. but these weren't; not crisp, not too soggy, OK with ketchup. Coleslaw was passable, but pretty basic. Bread was soft and pretty good though. I don't really know what to say about the sauce. People had raved about how good the sauce was, but it didn't do anything for me. It kinda had a watered-down ranch-like base, but not tangy or herby like ranch, it kinda had a hint of spiciness, like maybe some cayenne powder, but wasn't hot or spicy at all. Overall it was just bland. Underwhelmed and disappointed overall. Two stars is being generous just because it wasn't disgustingly awful, but I...
Read moreOkay I do have to say the four times that I've been here they have been drive through experiences. And drive-thru experiences are just as important as dine in experiences in my opinion. I'm not very excited about other drive-thru designed but hey we can live with that. Try to line does tend to get busy however they are rapidly fast they have two lines with two employees taking your orders and you pay at the second window. Their menu is pretty simple chicken, chicken strips, chicken sandwich. There's something about their chicken that is a moist yet crispy crunchy it's not oily it's just right. Oh man, they have one of the tastiest coleslaw I have ever had in my life I don't know what their magic sauce is but it sold me. I'm not so crazy about their bread but I'm trying to avoid carbs anyhow so I'm fine with that. They are lemonade is off the charts usually I have half lemonade and half iced tea try it you won't regret it. Staff is friendly make sure you get an extra side of their famous dipping sauce they do charge you for it but it's worth it. I will be updating a review once I dine in but My overall drive-thru experience was...
