Imagine Art Supplies — Local services in Pacific Grove

There are very few art supply stores outside San Francisco so it is nice to have access to one of you are in the area, however the prices here can be very high, I didn’t find the staff to be knowledgeable, and was generally given really poor advice, their main intent is to talk you into buying anything so do your research before you buy anything from a brand they carry which you are not familiar with. The best thing they had to offer in fine art supplies was a limited supply of large tubes of Daniel Smith paint and they did offer a 25% discount which was nice as their prices are extremely high. The rest of what they offer is of very low quality (paint brushes were terrible), or inventory was very low, 5 single copic markers for example. The store is very tiny, and seems geared towards kids who need art supplies for class; definitely not a shop that caters to fine artists. Everyone there was nice but it was touristy. I don’t think they have a particular niche and they don’t seem to know what to stock, a miscellaneous collection of various items with very limited selection available. I’m sorry I can’t give a better review but anyone can put in an amazing review, I’d rather support this shop by offering an honest review to help them get honest feedback and to help future potential customers have a realistic picture, not something fake. The owner is an amazing lady with an extensive knowledge of art/art supplies. She always answers all my weird questions and is helpful to suggest things even when she doesn't carry them. One of the few places that sells a great selection of large individual sheets of printmaking and drawing paper. I am so happy to have found such a great little independent art store in Pacific Grove! Thank you for the insight to the world of colored pencils! One forgets the importance of shopping local when the click of a button can bring you something fast. But the advice and engagement from a local expert trumps all. I greatly appreciate this business, my future coloring pencils, gifts and art supplies will be purchased here. I love local stores....
