Walked inside looking for a junky shop that might have some good "Pagosa" stickers (they did), but when I walked in I found myself standing in a wonderland of rocks and fossils. I actually went back outside to check that I hadn't gone in the wrong shop. Nothing on the outside says anything about geology, rocks, fossils, crystals, etc., but inside its like getting to pick through museum quality specimens that they're selling for absurdly affordable prices. There was a shelf of copralites, a shelf of ammonites, a shelf of Pyrite and iron pyrite (which I had never seen before), beautiful kyanites, selenite towers, a wall of himalayan salt crystal lamps... I was just blown away. As a sedimentologist I don't know much about crystals, gems, and large fossils. They seemed to me to have a great selection, but I can't speak to the rarity or quality of their selection.
They also had the "tourist junk" I went in for: stickers, T-Shirts, mugs, kids junk, knives with your name engraved, knives with your ex's name engraved, etc.
Only 4 stars because they need to put a sign out front advertising their rock/mineral section. It took up a quarter of the store! There's a sign for "metal art" and that wasn't even located inside (its all outside on the side of the store on...
Read moreThis place is huge! If you go in through the sliding glass door on the far right, you find yourself in a quite large souvenir shop. If you walk to your left, the middle section is a full on rock shop which includes a variety of incense too. All the way in the back is a fine jewelry store. Wow! It's a lot.
The souvenir section of the store offers postcards, stickers, keychains, t-shirts and sweatshirts, toys, stuffed animals, knives, figurines, keychains, Christmas tree decorations, purses, pouches, greeting cards, magnets, and probably other things I don't remember. A lot of the items say "Pagosa Springs" or "Wolf Creek" on them. I really want one of the tie dyed hoodies, but they're out of my budget.
The middle section is big and full of all shapes, sizes, and varieties of gems and minerals.
I didn't go into the very back section, as I was a bit overwhelmed by the time I got there. I did peek in, and there was a lot of upscale jewelry in the room.
This store seems to have something...
Read moreWe had a blast at this place! There is tons of cool things to look at, including the traditional souvenirs t-shirts etc., however, they have rocks and crystals and all kinds of amazing things. Be cautious if bringing little kids as they will want to touch everything!!! We allowed our, 4year-old, grandkids to each get a bag of colorful, shiny, rocks and that kept them busy while the other adults looked at the fun clothing, souvenirs, and other amazing treats! They also have a beautiful selection of jewelry. We will definitely be back next time we are in Pagosa...
