The history of this mall is vast, but the only time it was really a mall was in the 80's. Past that, it went downhill from there. I am excruciatingly sad that the JCPenney (which makes the basis of nearly every mall that has it) shut down for Ollie's, a store that's not one to ride home about (and smells awful too). Roses is good, but isn't as much a clothing store as of the left side of the mall. I want to try Citi Trends, and will go to shoe show mega soon. But it has gotten so bad that mall walking is banned. The popular attractions of the mall in the 2010's are gone. The movie theater and JCPenny CARRIED the reputation of the mall throughout the county. Now they're out of sight, out of mind. No one EVER talks about Citi Trends and Shoe Show is Shoe Carnival but like a mall anchor. Now it houses Government offices and a daycare with cocomelon at the back of it, which the back is so dead. It's actually creepy how no one is back there anymore. The secret roadway to the mall from Moody is really cool because if it were still like it was when it opened, the Belk-Hudson would dominate your view and it would be easy to get there from Moody. Now after that you are unwelcomely greeted by Cocomelon graffiti. It's sad. So sad that they now call it a Promenade. If they switch the name of a mall to not a mall when it is dying, something has made things massively terrible here. Another horrid thing is that it is surrounded by tool stores, department stores, and fashion stores independent of being from a mall. I suggest they do something with the inside of the mall or it will go nowhere from here. For instance, maybe open a Hot Topic inside to give competition with Five Below, and maybe make some land for a Kohl's behind the Citi Trends...
Read moreThere's absolutely nothing of any interest to the modern or uban person there. Even country people/locals won't go there because it's just a giant waste of space. Whoever owns that building needs to sell it to someone who can change it into something modern that people really want to go be at. The modern day mall should be a place where people want to go even if it is just to socialize. If it is attractive enough for people to socialize at, then people will eventually want to buy food there and maybe even window shop while hanging out which in turn then exposes them to the merchandise in the mall bringing revenue. I don't understand why these people don't understand such a simple concept. Also, they need to lower the rent for the stores to a competitive price so good, interesting, moder and popular stores can settle in there in order to cause exactly what I explained above. Please, someone inform the owners of this because they will inevitably lose this "mall" anyway, so they might as well try lowering...
Read moreThis place has changed so much over the years. It used to have good department stores, now it's bargain outlets. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Rose's is a good place to buy work clothes, for me anyway. A pair of pants that costs $25 at Walmart, they have for $9.99. so, needless to say, that's where I get my work pants. I even buy Polo shirts there when I find ones I like. Then there's Ollie's, it's almost like roses, but there's a difference in their inventory, just different things. If you need a rug, Ollie's has a wide selection. You can even get carpet and padding here, cut to length. There's some other stores there, one sells shoes, another sells clothes, but the stuff they carry isn't my style, it's geared more toward younger people. The theater is a great place to watch the newest movies. They have like 6 or 8 different screen rooms and it's...
