I always love world market and the products they offer but when it comes to customer service at this location they have some serious issues. I would have submitted a private review, but since they don’t have a feedback questionnaire, they get a public review instead. I went in to shop because of the 30% off members discount special they have running this weekend. I don’t realize that there is a barcode that must be scanned to have the discount applied to my total until after I have already paid. Which at that point the cashier tells me she cannot apply the discount unless she returns all my items, rescans all the items, scans the discount barcode (which is in my emails, on my phone, just didn’t realize there was a barcode, ok, my bad.) and also a manager must be present. Number one: Is the checkout system really that difficult to have a discount applied after payment? Technology is so advanced these days that I find it hard to believe that the process of having to return everything and rescan every single item is a bit of a stretch. But who knows, maybe the POS system really is an old dinosaur. Number two: The store is practically empty. Not a “hello” upon entering, not a “can I help you” while shopping, and then I get a lazy cashier who stands around chatting with her coworker and can’t give a little customer service? The little things that could have easily not even be noticed suddenly seem like a big deal when customer service at the checkout counter gets thrown out the window. The woman at the register was so incredibly rude, going as far as slamming her hand down on the counter and walking off, making a rude comment as she left alluding to us being racist! All over asking if she could break $100 if my friend paid with that. Another employee walked up and checked my friend out, not saying a word to her. When it came time for me to check out the first woman walked up behind me, mumbled something under her breath, and then walked off. The other woman rang up my things - almost $100 worth of items, and did not say a word to me or respond to me. I left the items and walked out of the store. I could not see myself spending $100 in a store that supported their employees acting this way. Read moreI placed an online pickup order for a sofa. I received excellent customer service and I’d like to give a shout out to Brittany and KeEllis for their help. The sofa was packed in two boxes and we were trying our best to get them both loaded so I wouldn’t have to make a second trip. (And they didn’t know that it’s almost an hour round trip for me) The store had already closed and when we had done everything humanly possible to try to make both boxes fit, I felt bad that they had stayed late to help me, and THEY felt bad that it just wasn’t happening! They were so polite and professional and I cannot thank them enough for going above and beyond!
