Today I heard on the news Consumer Report took the perfect score it gave the Model S due to many owners complains for various failures and as a result, Tesla lost 10% of its stock value.
As a Model S Owner (nothing fancy, 85 Kw, rear drive, no auto pilot) I strongly disagreed with the news feed and felt the need to share my experience with any prospective Tesla buyer. Over a year of ownership and 14k miles driven, I LOVE this car. It's like driving a stealth space ship. It made my commute a pleasure. It is so quiet, power on demand at any speed, with no hick up, no delays, and the sound of the wheels rolling on the highway and the HiFi sound system is all I hear. Who would have thought that after more than a year of ownership I would still be so excited over this car.
Now let's talk reliability; throughout my ownership, only once the car failed (the inverter that charges the 12V battery from the main 85Kw fried). It was Friday eve and I was leaving my office on my way home and the car won't drive. After a call to Tesla 800, I was Ubered at their expense to the service center where the team waited for me (after hour) to give me a loaner Tesla. My car was towed to the shop at their expense and I suffered an hour delay. On my end, it was a small price to pay for driving this incredible car. I had some squeaking noise, and they pin pointed it and eliminated the noise. I have to add, Tesla shop bend over backward for their customers. They deal with any complain with the utmost concern. I hit an object in the tunnel that was dragging under my car, and as courtesy, they replaced a component in the front end free. Did I mention they are picking my car from my place of work, dropping a loaner car and returning it when they are done with zero interruption to my daily schedule? Did I mention they asked me if I will allow their tech to drive my car (which I do) and if no, they will send a trailer to pick my car. Do you know of any other brand that extend this level of service? Mercedes? Audi? Hell no!!!
Lastly, I am working on cars since I was a 12 years old (not a joke), and I am running a trucking business, thus I am well versed in the mechanics of automobiles. Tesla's technology is mind boggling. I appreciate so much about the tech, research, and attention that this car got, I am sold. My next car for as long as I can afford it would be a Tesla.

Read moreThe service they provide for the price of their product is laughable. It seems it's impossible to have anything go smoothly here. They were several hours late on my pickup. It took over a month to get an appointment. When I finally got my appointment they told me they wouldn't even look at the veichle and that they would have to reschedule an appointment to send a mobile tech out to my house in 4 days. The following morning I received another message stating that the mobile tech will be unable to fix the issue as well and that I would have to return to the dealership over a month later for then to take a look. This dealership has no respect for anyone's time and will send you through at least a 2.5 month long goose chase to resolve any issue you have in the hope that you will just get tired and give up seeking help about an issue with the brand new veichle you paid them at least $40,000 for.
