I've been buying Skullcandy products for years from general retailers, as they have generally made a decent product for a competitive price, though my recent experience with the products and company has led me to decide that there isn't a good reason to keep doing business and the products just don't seem worth the money anymore.
I ordered a pair of HESH ANC Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphones in Black, the price was $134.99 before tax, and the eta was approximately 2 weeks. At work I receive a notification that my package has arrived, so I go home for my lunch break and take stock of my new acquisition, but what I received left me frustrated. My headset had not come, it was a Skullcandy product but certainly not the one I ordered, this being a commemorative gaming headset (Street Fighter II anniversary) that lacked any of the features I purchased the HESH for in the first place. I contacted customer service within minutes of opening the package, which to their credit the CSR set about trying to correct the issue immediately, a shipping label was printed and it was sent back the next day.
Fast forward 27 days, I still hadn't received my purchase, so I inquired with customer service again as to whether they had received the package and when I could expect the correct one to arrive, at which point they asked if I would like a refund (which I honestly should have taken), to which I responded simply "I just want what I paid for". After about another week I receive the headphones that I purchased, unboxing was more than a little disappointing.
For around $150 all together (and 2 months of waiting) I received a headset seemingly designed to be uncomfortable, the actual headphones sit on top of my ears rather than around them (note that I don't have huge elephant ears by any stretch of the imagination), the padding around the ear pieces and arch in between is minimal and provides little to no support, while the overall construction appears and feels cheap/brittle.
So I contacted customer service again, stating that the product was ultimately not going to work for me, citing concerns about it too easily being broken by accident and that I have no use for it as is, though as of writing this review, another two weeks have passed without a response. I'll be calling in the morning to make clear that I don't want this thing, and I won't be having any talk of it being "past the return by date", I didn't even receive the thing until almost a month after that, and I have documentation of the problems I've been having with this order.
As an aside, I was given a pair of 3M "WorkTunes" headphones which are much more comfortable, far sturdier in construction, block noise more effectively and the audio quality isn't noticably different, which is all pretty annoying considering I looked it up and these things are less than half the price of the HESH.
In summary Hadn't bought anything directly from Skullcandy in the past, but I've liked their products and used them for a long time, so of course they're my first choice for an affordable and effective listening experience, but both the product and service* (slight caveat) I've received have been...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been a faithful Skullcandy customer for untold years now. That said, upon my recent purchase of one of their wireless headsets, I was shocked, for the first time ever, finding only small and medium earbud sized tips enclosed leaving them practically unusable for my large ear canals.
So I called support, and experienced and warm and wonderful exchange with Sarah. She spent several minutes taking my address and assured me they would be shipping out a package with several large sized tips for my new headset. THEREIN LIES THE BAD bitsNbytes of this oversight by Skullcandy's product being shipped without the standard inclusion of all three sizes.. she informed me that it was called, exasperatingly so, a courtesy (free) order and would take two days to process at their warehouse shipping, AND THEN SEVEN TO TEN DAYS via UPS ground to arrive?!
Wait.. so I've been a faithful customer for years now.. have never ever purchased their products with a missing tip size.. YET MUST WAIT FOR WEEKS TO GET THIS.. ahem.. COURTESY ORDER TO MAKE UP FOR THEIR PRODUCTS OVERSIGHT?!
While thoroughly disappointed to hear, their version of '''courtesy''' customer service felt quite offensive; their choice of terminology did not help.
BUT WAIT.. THERE'S MUCH MORE disappointment in my story fellow Skullcandy customers! Warm rep Sarah typo-ed my address by one missing "0" of wrong APT 216.. vs my provided APT 2016? So I realized it had been weeks with no parcel, and to my dismay, upon checking the UPS tracking.. IT HAD BEEN RETURNED TO SENDER due that singular addressing error..
YOU GUESSED RIGHT heroes.. upon calling them today, that tiny package that USPS could've gotten to me 3-5 DAYS MAX beyond my July 31st order.. IS NOW GOING TO BE RESTARTED with 2 DAYS PROCESSING.. AND 7-10 MORE DAYS UPS GROUND.. I could end up waiting for even more week now for my.. '''COURTESY''' ORDER?!
I'm thinking this will be my last dollars spent on the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe come to the Park City area for a few days each year for specific reasons with time constraints. Last year, the ONLY opportunity to check out the HQ/store, we get there and itās closed, even though Google said it was open, and their posted hours said it was open. Frustrating until we see the sign that says āclosed for a powder day.ā As a company that seems to have been founded in Snowsports, this actually seemed like a respectable reason to be closed for a few random hours. THIS year, we had two opportunities. We swing through on Monday afternoon bc Google said ācloses soon.ā (About 45 minutes from when we arrived.) we get there, and they have window decals/displays that say they are only open 1-5 Tuesday through Friday?!? Do they seriously only have one store employee that canāt work more than 20 hours a week?!? I could even understand opening a little later in the day to let employees get turns in the morningsā¦if it were ALL business days!!! To make matters worse, we showed up today, a Wednesday at 1:45pm, the internet STILL says they are currently open, and when we arrive, the window displays were gone with what seemed like a piece of paper, stating, āclosed today.ā Itās not even a powder day, in fact, itās in the 40s. Why the h*ll are they closed today?!? Iāve only purchased lowest end skull candy equipment and itās never lasted, I figured because it was budget, but it seems their stores are as unreliable as their equipment, and Iām hesitant to support a company with such low...
