Sadly lost 25 years of side burn and temple hair maintence growth because the stylist (Jessica C.) misunderstood & didn't confirm befor cutting. I came in for bang trim and dead ends trim off the long length. The bang fringe framing was left too long from a previous cut in March. Jessica C. cut off the temple hair that I said was the framing I liked & to be left alone. She also cutt off my sideburns which some parts were grown into the length of my hair since puberty to thicken what I am losing from PCOS. In She assumed they were always shaved off when my bangs were cut. Both sides were left uneven after she attempted to "blend" the one side by taking an electric razor shaving upwards and caused it to be near bare stubble while the other side was about 1/2 inch. My side burns were over 6 inches long. My temple hairs were about 9 inches reduced to about 2 inches.
She knew how badly she messed up and immediately admitted she thought that is what I wanted and assumed. She went to fetch the manager to talk to her for me and kept assuring my haircut will be free and she is so sorry for assuming so much. At the register I broke down crying after Jessica asked me what else I was going to do with my day...All I could tell Jessica was I was going to cry in my car because decades of hair growth and care was gone and I forced into a feminine styling after I expressed throughout the appointment how much that bothers me and I liked this things about myself. The CASHIER was the one who offered to allow me to talk to the manger after he and three two others saw how upset and bad the cut was.
Lauren assured the haircut was still free but tried to assert how she was told I wanted my bangs cut (which is how Jessica went about it) and when I said I never mentioned nor asked about the complete removal of sideburns or excessive cutting of my temple hair. I said I know what fringes are when she tried to explain what that was to me. All she could say was "sorry" & looked sad with another "sorry" when I said I work a public facing job & we are required as school employees to look professional.
I had to go back in, where Lauren allowed me another stylist or Jessica C. to fix my hair. Master Stylist Aaliyah B. was very attentive on cover-up techniques (root spray for the sideburns), but noticeable length will take a few weeks, but full length will be several months (estimated 6-9 months). She understood how important such a feature was to my gender identity, reassuring I am both "handsome & pretty". She gave excellent product choice options to buy to help regrowth process & cover-up.
I went back a third time after noticing how unfinished the bangs overall were at home trying to assess all the damage (stragglers several inches difference and some parts nearly an 1/2 inch wide). The blonde manager said to come back the next day free of charge. I did with Master Stylist Lizzy. She was appauled at how bag a simple bang trim and dead ends of the length cut turned out to be. She also understood my PCOS will definetely cause issues for regrowth (I had to get doctor's permission to stop taking my androgen block to regrow the facial sideburn hair & the soon hairloss will return of my temples and center part).
When asked why I didn't have Master Stylist Mortis N. but given to Stylist Jessica C. I essentially was pawned off & no one telling me WAS NOT ok! Some stylists don't look like their profile pictures anymore, but I only learned Jessica's name not until she started cutting, too late to change/if I could. Lizzy unfortunately noted temple hair will be least 18 months to grow back to the length it used to be, but probably longer. Sideburns are similar to Aaliyah's estimate.
Jessica C. wasn't attentive during the 5PM signature style appointment (1hr 15 min book). Took me late (10-15 min), multiple times walked away when I was explaining what I wanted /friendly banter to get supplies forgotten/realized needed/attend another customer. Tried steering conversation back on track she was trying to assert trendy ideas, e.g. curtain bangs...

Same experience.. rude, no one spoke to us specifically when we walked in but the white couple that walked in after us was greeted and accommodated, being followed and watched the entire time we were trying to shop. The only clerk that actually helped me and my mom was Hailey, she was sweet❤️ Answered all of our questions and helped us locate the items we couldn’t seem to find. I genuinely appreciate her kindness. Today was definitely my last time shopping at this location. If you’re a person of color PLEASE read the multiple one star reviews! Multiple people are saying the same thing for a reason.
ORIGINAL REVIEW FROM OVER A YEAR AGO: Yesterday was my third time coming to this Ulta location and it’s literally been the same experience all three times! Walked through the door and said “hello” but no one spoke back, I walked in circles looking for a particular perfume and no one asked me if I needed help or was looking for a certain item even though I locked eyes with associates as they walked past me!! The atmosphere is not a “comfortable/friendly” it’s more like a “get what you need and get the hell out”!! This has happened ALL THREE TIMES that I’ve shopped at this location. Maybe your experience is or could be different from mine, maybe it’ll be be a better experience for you if you have the right skin complexion.. Idk but I won’t be shopping at this location in particular ever again. If it bothers/irritates you to be courteous to your customers then DON’T...
