This is an Indian retail chain that absolutely sucks!! Two major problems exist here. The retailer displays expired food and beverages on the isles. For first-timers this is a scary situation as you will end up paying for something that is not suitable for consumption. Some of the stuff that they sell in plastic boxes is so stale and old you can almost sense the weird flavor when you cook it and consume it. The second problem, the cashier at the counters have been working there since time immemorial however they have this knack of charging to your receipt stuff that you may have not purchased. I have encountered this twice, and itâs a shame. They charged me for items that I did not purchase. When you go to other stores like Target / Shoprite you can believe and trust in the cash clerks but here you canât. I almost feel this is unacceptable. This is a chain of stores that are operating throughout USA and how come they still canât get their act right when it comes to basic things. To add their customer service is terrible and you will never ever be able to get hold of the manager to voice your concerns. I am considering complaining to the Better Business Bureau about this...
Read morePros: Very good selection, reasonable prices, and fairly good stocking. Cons: Keep your eye on cashier's hands when they weigh your groceries. I have seen them push the groceries down on the digital scale when you are not looking. This makes you pay some more than what you actually owe them. All of them are doing this. Also, be careful with Swad brand products. Some of their bagged products have small pebbles and stones. This is a common practice in India to illegally add weight. I broke my right molar three years ago because of a similar looking stone in Swad Charoli. Quality control is non-existent. One more thing: Most of the young Latino employees (except for the two most senior Latino men who have been working here for many years), stare at female customers in a bad way. They stare and then pass comments to each other in Spanish, and then they all laugh. Most Indian women don't even notice what's going on behind their back. But if you watch them carefully while a young women enters the store, or the isle where they are working, you will notice it too. They don't even care of others are watching them. Indian managers and employees turn a blind eye towards this...
Read moreHad a very bad experience with Patel brothers, Parsippany branch location. Today I tried to return one of their product (Swad Urad Dal) which has been bought recently in this store location. But unfortunately i missed the receipt and when i was asking the person who was in billing section to exchange the product with another brand of Urad Dal. He was literally the way answered as you are bringing the very old product and doesn't seem to be recently bought. Also he was calling and informing other billing people in their own language and other two ladies from billing counter were making fun and answering sardonically saying that this is very old product, show the bill ( Are they agreeing that they keep the old products in their store ? as it has been brought from them only). The insulting part what it was you know, the way they behaved with me in front of all customer made me so upset. Finally I decided myself that there is no point of talking and asking to them and made myself that never ever i should visit this branch...
