Lodging overnight 10/10/2024 while driving solo down the Eastern Seaboard. I always check with Front Desk of any hotel/motel that they have a non-smoking, ground-level room for one person and a dog, where I can park my rig right in front of my room door/window to keep an eye on my cargo. They got that part right, but it all went downhill from there. There were some deficiencies with the room (#115): heating / cooling controls not easy to figure out, had to ask the young front desk guy to come help me with it. He was dismissive as if I was an idiot or merely a silly woman -- not okay (really not okay to talk like that to any guest, let alone a 5-star AirBnB host such as myself), when there were dual temperature controls: thermostat on the wall that didn't seem to be adjustable and the old-school heater-A/C unit on wall under window that was not easy to figure out either with illegible control buttons. Then I tried turning on the TV without any luck as there was no remote to access content. I wanted to check news on hurricane damage I was driving down into. They wouldn't answer the phone at the front desk so had to go back over there and tell them I needed a remote. They said they'd take a while to bring one to me. Longer than promised, I go back over to front desk and he eventually hands me a new remote, yet that turned out not to be programmed to connect to their dish network or cable or whatever. I was disgusted that my evening for rest and unwinding from a long day's haul on the road was shot by having all these hassles. I asked for another room but was told they didn't have any more vacancies and was told by the young not-so-nice front desk clerk I'd have to talk to the manager in the AM. In the morning when I went to check out, I asked for a discount or credit for the inconveniences. The so-called manager didn't want to do that, maybe he offered me 10%. I said that was not enough for all the shortcomings on their part, yet he would only offer me still a measly 20%, then tried to pull a fast one and not actually provide that 20% off. Saw that only because I insisted on a receipt, then made him refund me the promised 20%. Can you say "real SLEAZY"? I told him that I'd be reporting them to Red Roof corporate and BBB etc. See the photos of the not-to-code issues: electrical connection for heater-A/C unit pulled out from wall, and the filthy exhaust fan that was missing the safety shield. Probably the worst experience ever at a Red Roof Inn and me and my dog have stayed in RRIs all across the country. LOCATION: The only good things about that place was they had a dedicated area to potty your dog with baggies and a cannister for their waste. Plus I was able to walk over to the fancy Asian restaurant located in front of them for a fine dinner and also walked over to a convenience store nearby for a few snacks. It was a bit sketchy to get into that RRI and also depart from it due to it being on a divided two-lane and heavy traffic. Was not a vacation trip, just traveling from point A to point B, so had to select 'business,' although more personal business vs an enterprise. Google should have option to note Travel as purpose for the trip/stay.

We found this location through a third-party booking site we hadn't used before and accidentally ended up booking a smoking room (who knew those still existed?). When we arrived, the property looked decent from the outside, and the location was convenient. As usual, we checked the room before bringing in our things. The moment we opened the door, it was obvious it was a smoking room. I immediately went back to the front desk and requested to switch to a non-smoking room. The clerk claimed they were sold out (which wasn’t true), but said I could book a new room for nearly $165. So, they weren’t sold out after all? We explained that we hadn’t realized we’d booked a smoking room and simply wanted to switch, not double pay for a new room. The clerk said there was nothing he could do because we booked through a third-party site. One of us has asthma and couldn't stay in the smoking room, so we mentioned that. They asked if we’d used the room, even though we had just checked in! If the clerk hadn’t been on the phone the entire time, they might have noticed that. Eventually, they agreed to move us to a non-smoking room, which we appreciated—until we saw the room. It was a dump. We didn’t expect luxury for the price, but at over $100 (with taxes) and their usual rate of $165, this room was unacceptable. The ironing board had no iron, and when I requested one, I was told it was "sold out" because someone else was using it—apparently, the entire motel shared one iron. The room was missing lightbulbs, the phone didn’t work, and the shower curtain rod was barely hanging on. The tub was caked in soap scum, the towel rack by the sink had been torn out and hastily patched, and towels were hung on the clothes rack instead. The AC barely worked, powered by a shoddy conduit running along the outside of the wall. The stairs near our room looked like they could collapse at any moment. To top it off, the linens in the smoking room looked dirty before we moved. They say you get what you pay for, but we’ve stayed in $100 rooms all over the country, and this was by far the worst.

This hotel deserves a health inspection and an exorcism. If you ever wondered what’s it’s like to sleep inside a biohazard, welcome to the Red Roof Inn. Where stains come in mystery shades, outlet flirts with electrocution, and your bathtub might actually be a crime scene. Let’s start with the electrical situation…exposed wires and cracked outlet covers give off “fire hazard chic.” I half expected a spark show while charging my phone. And the loose wall plate? Just waiting to bite your hand off. The curtain stains? Could be mustard. Could be blood. Could be tears from previous guests. Who’s to say? The bed sheets? Featured an elegant pattern of yellow stains. Likely not part of the original thread count. The comforter? Honestly it looks like it hasn’t been washed since dial up internet. Don’t even get me started on the bathroom. The tub has a thick film of grime, probably from the last ten unlucky guests. The toilet looks like it’s been through something…emotionally and physically. Oh, and the AC unit? Busted panel, caked on filth, and wedged into a wall like someone gave up halfway through installation. If you like your hotel rooms with a touch of “abandoned Soviet bunker” and a hint of “CSI crime scene,” this will be the place for you.

I had made a reservation for Saturday, May 27 for one night at the 855 US Hwy 46 Parsippany, NJ property when I was speaking with one of your 1-800-Red-Roof staff who helped.||He sent me an email confirmation with reference number. I had responded to an email offer for my birthday which offered a 15% reduction on the room rate and 250 RediReward Bonus Points when VP+/Promo code 542936 was used. I decided to start my vacation a day earlier, and needed an extra night's stay inbound to New York City. ||On my arrival on May 27, I was told that my reservation was cancelled. I had not been contacted by anyone from Red Roof Inn by telephone or email to advise me that my reservation would not be honoured. The person at the front desk told me that phone calls had been made about a problem with processing my credit card, however, no voice mail or emails were sent to advise me.||When I arrived, I was told that there were no rooms available.||There was a woman standing behind me when I was speaking with the front desk person who apparently checked out after I had left the vestibule, and the fellow at the desk waived for me to return. I was told that she had checked out, and that after the room had been cleaned, that I could return. I explained that when I had booked the reservation that there was a discount and the bonus RediReward offer, but the fellow at the desk said that he couldn’t make any decisions about those issues. I presented by RediRewards number when I provided my credit card number for payment. I was told that I would get a special rate, but that the room rate would likely be $107.00 plus taxes.||I went for dinner and returned, and was directed to a room that was next to the office. The room was not a typical Red Roof Inn room, and had no alarm clock or telephone. The room appeared to be more like a break room that staff might use.||When I checked out the next morning, I was not issued an invoice for my stay, with the staff person at the desk telling me that the printer was not in service. I asked for an email copy which was never sent. I usually stay at a Red Roof Inn in Secaucus in the spring and fall, where they have issued email folios that listed room charges, so know this service is offered.||The Parsippany Red Roof Inn staff have left me with a very poor impression of that particular property’s management. I have been left with the impression that they did not want to honour a reservation with a discounted rate when they felt they could charge a higher rate for the Memorial Day weekend. No emails were sent to me, and my email address is certainly available to Red Roof Inn and attached to my RediRewards account. I responded to the promotional birthday offer sent by email .||I was disappointed when I received my credit card statement and found an invoiced amount of $194.86 for the night I stayed at Parsippany, which far exceeded the $101.33 rate that was on my reservation confirmation.||I also did not receive the 250 bonus points for my stay at Red Roof Parsippany. There is no record of that stay on my RediRewards statement.||I have both emailed Red Roof Inn Customer Relations and sent a letter by mail to Red Roof Inn's head office to ask for their help in getting my invoice, asking for a price adjustment, and adjusting my RediRewards, but have had no response. ||I’m glad that my experiences with Red Roof Inn at Secaucus and other locations have been favourable, otherwise, I would look for other accommodation options when planning future travel. ||Red Roof Parsippany will never have me as a...

I have never written a hotel or motel review but feel compelled to warn others about what is essentially a dump. The photos I saw online were taken elsewhere and do not even remotely resemble the room I was stuck with for two days because the prepaid rate was reasonable, being 20 minutes from the venue I was to see a concert at. Staying anywhere near the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Nj would have set me back hundreds of dollars which I could not afford. I took a number of photos because the room was THAT bad! The first problem when I entered the room was the stench of cigarettes (I specifically requested a NONSMOKING room). I arrived at 3 a.m. and just wanted to immediately go to bed. When I pulled back the covers, I noticed the sheets looked old and wrinkled like they had been slept in and the bed just made. I quickly noticed an orange-colored stain once I pulled back the sheet. I pulled that sheet completely out of the bed and out of the way. I deliberately shoved the blanket away from me and set the temperature to 78 so I would only have to sleep on the flat sheet and not be cold. I later discover a dirt stain on the sheet on the opposite side of the bed. I called the desk (because the TV didn’t work) and was told it might be fixed the next day. It wasn’t and I requested a room with a working TV which I also did not get. After using the phone, which was set back in a cubby under a small bedside shelf, noticed how grimy the keypad looked, as if it had NEVER been cleaned. The next morning, I wanted to warm something for a light breakfast and noticed the microwave plug lying on top of an open dresser. I looked on each side of the dresser and even pulled it out from the wall only to find that there was NO outlet to plug it into. I had to carry it to the sink where I could plug it in. The photos speak for themselves. Any sign of even the most basic cleaning was absent. The room was not fit for a homeless person to sleep in! I was so distrustful of the staff that I packed up everything to go to my event the second day and dreaded having to return that night but I would have lost everything I paid for the room (~$130) and couldn’t afford to get another room. Aside from what I’ve already mentioned, the shower curtain had mold on it, the bottom of the tub looked dirty and the walls of the shower had a faint yellowish hue as if they hadn’t been scrubbed EVER. Lastly, after arriving at 3 a.m. the first night, an employee started knocking and banging on the door. I could hear him asking me to open the door, asked him what he needed because I was not yet up and after he ignored my question and continued banging on the door, just stopped even trying to convey anything to this person and ignored him completely so that he finally left. I later learned he was wanting me to sign papers!! I will never make that...
