Sal's Haircutting Salon — Local services in Parsippany-Troy Hills

I usually get good haircuts from Sal (the owner). I am not sure who cut my hair today, but he was on the younger side. I asked for a fade on the sides and he didn't even blend it at all. I had to bug him for at least 3-4 revisions before he cut it decently.

Even then, he neglected to scissor cut the right side of my hair blending into the fade. When I asked for a straight-razor line up on the sides and front, he pulled out the tool without cleaning it with alcohol or replacing the blade. That was a bit strange to me. When I told him to "be careful on the sides," he was so careful that he didn't even line it up. It looked so shabby, but I didn't want to keep bugging him for a 5th revision so I just paid him and left, even though the haircut was sub-par.

In any case, the haircut was so atrocious that I had to go down the street to pay for a second haircut at Parsippany Cuts. I have never before received such a shabby haircut, and I usually love this place for the great value and professionalism. This place really fell short with the fade haircuts. I will not be returning, unfortunately.

EDIT: Thank you for the response. I apologize for being so critical at first; I was not in the best mood following my haircut. To be fair, the fade was not completely horrible—but I did have to pay another shop to fix it. I will call ahead and return next week for a haircut with Sal. After the haircut, I will change my rating as well (now 3 stars.... was 1 star). I hope to give back the 5 star rating your shop deserves after next week....

Great, traditional men's salon serving Lake Hiawatha and many neighboring towns. Personal, friendly, quick service at old-fashioned prices. It's easy to notice there is a very large, loyal following of satisfied customers of all ages who have been going there for many years. Sal, the owner, is super friendly and instantly accommodating to everyone. Three stylists are always on duty so that any wait is short even at busy times. Recently updated, clean salon is located in a very safe, friendly, residential neighborhood. Always lots of free parking out front. Excellent stylist Robert is in high demand for his craftsmanship and artistry, combined with his friendly personality and listening skills. I used to go to Nick's at the bottom of Main St., Boonton. He retired a few years back. So I started my search for a replacement. I jumped around to a few places in Boonton, but was never satisfied. The cuts were ok, and the service at all those places was lackluster.

Then I found Sal's in Parsippany, on a Yelp review. They are EXCELLENT. Lou, Sal (the man himself) or Robert are all friendly, and pros at what they do. The prices are the best I have seen anywhere. I highly recommend them!

Two tips:

Go on a Monday or Tuesday. The place is much quieter then, and the barbers will take their time with you. Much more relaxing.
