I think this place is hands down one of the better places to get matcha in LA. And trust me I have tried many matcha places - Stereoscope coffee, Maru, Kumquat, and Urth. The only matcha place on east side I still haven't tried is Tea Master Matcha Cafe and Green Tea Shop in Little Tokyo. There is a reason why there is a long line no matter what time of day you go - I went both on a Thursday at 10:30 AM and on Friday at 1:00 PM and both times there was a line to the door. However, when I went they were pretty fast and efficient - my drink was ready in less than 10 minutes from when I ordered. As a heads up they don't always consistently call out your name/drink, so I would suggest going to the counter and checking the drinks and find the one with your name attached to it.
I had matcha rain and matcha strawberry and my gosh was it delicious. The matcha rain was perfectly smooth and creamy with just right amount of matcha flavor and matcha strawberry was a cool and refreshing drink. I also love that all their drinks come standard with oat milk and there's no upcharge for it. Each drink is about $7-8 which I think is basic drink prices now in LA, but I found one drink to be plenty for me. You can also customize sweetness if you need it more or less sweet and amount of ice. I found how it comes standard actually to be the best and that's saying something as I don't like overly sweet drinks so I usually ask it for less sweet.
Food wise early in morning they do sell pastries - however by the time I got there by 11 am there weren’t many pastries left.
It's a very clean aesthetic and they do have an outdoor patio area with umbrellas on the side as well as in front to sip. I actually was able to study here and there were definitely students from PCC studying here, but be aware the acoustics of the cafe are very loud so bring headphones if you need silence/music to concentrate. There are a limited amount of outlets (only 3 tables had them), so would probably recommend if you need an extended study place I can't recommend this.
Parking wise it's 2 hour street parking and 1 hour street parking. I never had any difficulty finding parking on Green, Chester, and Colorado the few...
Read moreWe had truly been looking forward to visiting, but our experience was ultimately disheartening. While the matcha lattes were indeed excellent, their size was underwhelming for the price. Our total came to $27 for two lattes and a single ham and cheese croissant.
What was most disappointing, however, was the service from the cashier, Vinnie. Upon our approach, there was a noticeable shift in demeanor. Unlike the warm greetings and kindness extended to every other guest we observed, we were met with silence and a blank stare. There was no greeting, and the interaction was minimal.
We stayed to drink our lattes, but the feeling of being singled out was difficult to ignore, especially as we watched the friendly service resume with the customers behind us. The experience was capped off by not being thanked or bid farewell, a courtesy that was clearly standard for others.
It is with genuine regret that we left, having originally intended to try more pastries, but the service we received made us feel too uncomfortable to continue our visit. It was a particularly discouraging moment, as we were the only Mexican patrons in the cafe, and the distinct difference in treatment was impossible...
Read moreWent here because of a flyer in our mail and my partner and I love trying new coffee places. Super happy that there's bike parking out front because I'm on a scooter. There's lots of indoor and outdoor seating but midday all outside tables are in full sun. It was very busy when we went but they're running a promo for their grand opening so it was to be expected. The staff was very friendly and even made sure my name was spelled right. Our coffee was great and my partner who was a barista for 7 years loved it too. They got the Orange Coffee and I got the Ein Iced Coffee which was smooth and lovely to drink. Also they have compostable straws, which aren't paper and are autism/sensory friendly! In fact the whole cafe was very sensory friendly. Accessible ramp is off to the side which would make turns into the door hard for wheelchair users by themselves. The inside is a little bare, but I assume it will be more decorated once they've finished their grand opening. But it was very chill vibes despite a lot of folks...
