First I’d like to point out that most of their 5 star reviews have no comments attached, leading one to believe that they are fake, in an attempt to raise their score. My review: I went into the store 2 days ago. I was shopping for an electric bicycle. They have promotions and banners stating “ check out the power” of this bike. When I asked to do so, I was told by Nick (a young employee who was very nice yet unsure of many details) that the batteries haven’t been charged in quite some time. I looked at 2 bicycles that were also both not charged, so I was incapable of evaluating these products. As a business owner myself, I like to give people and businesses the benefit of the doubt prior to posting anything negative, as I understand that doing so isn’t always fair. So, I politely asked Nick if he would have these bikes charged up within 2 days time, at which point, I would return (at my inconvenience) to try and look at them once again. I left him with my name and phone number (he handed me the pen and paper) and asked him to please call me and let me know this has been done before I drove back. He stated that he would talk to his manager and then call me. Well, now 2 days have passed and I didn’t receive a call. This leads to certain conclusions: 1) he forgot entirely. 2) he spoke to the manager that did not care to follow up. 3) they have no interest in selling their products. Either way, a poor example of how they operate their business. I shall not be revisiting Dick’s for this item,...
Read moreOf course everything here is overpriced but I went with my daughter to shop for YETI and Stanley cups which are annoyingly all the rage with kids even at her elementary school. We were comparing all the various cups and I would have liked assistance but rather than offer assistance, an employee planted himself no more than 10 feet from us and just kept staring at me and My 9-year-old daughter in a manner that made me extremely uncomfortable because it was obvious he was watching as if we were thieves and just in a creepy manner in general. Just to confirm, I moved to the next aisle out of his sight and he followed me and my young daughter. I then noticed him speaking into his little microphone and he sicced another employee on me and my 9-year-old. We were being stalked. Again, not once did he or anyone ask me if I needed assistance; he was just glaring at me but would look away when I looked in his direction. It was extremely off-putting to the point that I myself asked him if I can help him and told him I didn't appreciate what he was doing. When I walked in the store, I noticed a sign advertising their credit card which I was also interested in applying for since it offered an incentive. However after this extremely unpleasant, unwelcoming experience, I decided to take my 810 FICO score and business elsewhere. Go ahead and window shop here but save money and heartache by buying online elsewhere. I've always liked Bass Pro much better anyway. Friendlier employees and...
Read moreDon't fall for the guarantee program trick. It is a money-making scam. Bought a Marucci baseball bat for my son in late October 2022, which costs $300+. At the time of purchase we were told that they had a guarantee program whereby you pay 10% of the total cost of the bat and you can change the bat up to 4 times in a year or pay the difference for an upgraded version if you like. I thought it was a pretty good deal, so I bought the guarantee. I come in today 3/12/2023 (5 months later-still within the years time) to switch out the bat for a more expensive bat, brought the original receipt as instructed only to be told that they changed their policy 3 months ago and now you have to go through the manufacturer to see if they honor the guarantee. I spoke to the manager and mentioned that this new policy does not apply to us as we bought the bat 2 months prior to this new policy going into effect and he admitted that they have never honored the guarantee and that it was a misunderstanding and that their employees should not have told us that the guarantee works that way. So he flat out admitted that they are lying to their customers and that their staff is not trained adequately. This is flat-out lying to the customer to make extra money on a guarantee they know in advance that they do not plan on honoring. Never...
