Worst "kids" store I've ever been to. Whoever said management was great must have met a different manager than we did, we walked out due to the way we were treated by the elderly male owner. Maybe it was because of the color of my skin, but I felt unwelcome as soon as we waked in the door. Instead of being greeted we were immediately told my 1 year olds juice box was a pest issue. I would have had no issue with that but not two minutes later my husband was corrected on the way he using a puppet when playing our son. Then my son picked up an ostrich puppet and imitated it walking, everything about it was sweet and adorable but the man was standing over us and said to me "we don't like to let the puppets touch the ground, mom" to me. In no way was my son being disrespectful or rough with the puppet, he was merely imitating it walking and it so happened the long legs on the puppet lightly brushed the ground at the height my son stands. At that point I had not even made it 10 feet in the door and had been harassed/corrected/reprimanded/whatever you want to call it, 3 times. In what kids store are children not allowed to touch or play with anything ? And if they don't want anyone touching their precious puppets why are they directly in front of the entry/exit? None of this makes practical sense to me so I can't help but feel I was being racially profiled. We drove to the town to go that store as my sons birthday is next weekend and I was ready to spend some money on gifts for him. I left completely furious and offended. I will absolutely NEVER, EVER, EVER go back there and will advise against it to anyone who asks. It's a shame this store is a destination spot for this town because they don't deserve the notarity. This place has made me never want to even return to the town of Pentwater if they support business owners who treat...
Read moreAs my 8 year old niece said "they have good stuff but bad customer service" I was absolutely appalled how the owner yelled at my niece. He told us if it was out you could play with it, so she went into a puppet tree stage and he came over and yelled at her to get out. He said it was broken and she needed to lock it. Well it was NOT LOCKED and the DOOR WAS OPEN!! I was right there with her and there was ZERO evidence it was off limits. If you want kids to stay out of it put up a sign she CAN READ you know!!I He made her (as well as myself) feel mortified and embarrassed. If it wasn’t for that we would have overlooked him stalking all the customers telling them how great they are over and over. It was a special day for my niece and we all were going to buy books there but decided we'd much rather patronage Barnes and Noble. They may be a corporate company but they support kids, they have summer reading programs with rewards for the kids that finish it, they give them a cookie on their birthday and image this THEY ARE NICE TO KIDS!! If I could give this store a negative star I would! Stay away from this nasty...
Read moreSuch an adorable toy shop! Tons of quality toys from brands I didn't even realize existed. Many toys set up sitting out for kids to try out. My kids loved it! They also have a large variety of Usborne books. Their prices were very fair. The woman working there was kind and helpful and encouraged my kids to check out all the cool things! My 7 year old train enthusiast was in heaven and my baby was shrieking with joy at all of the fun things! They each picked something out and it kept them occupied at lunch...
