DRAGON SPA — Local services in Philadelphia

We came after great reviews from friends. One friend had an excellent time and gave us a gift card, but another had an issue where they ended up waiting an hour for an appointment and just had to leave because they were waiting so long. To prevent this, I had called at the beginning of the week and made an appointment for a couples massage at 10:00a because I had to be at work at 12:00p. We arrived 5 mins before and a man came out and told us it’ll be about 15 minutes if we didn’t want to go separate. As we booked a couples massage, that’s what we wanted. So we waited for over 30 minutes and finally got in at 10:30a. There was never anyone at the front desk, so we just sat in the waiting room for the whole time.

The staff never asked what kind of massage we wanted, how soft/hard we wanted, etc. they just started and it was extremely painful for both of us. They don’t play any music except what was playing in the lobby (which a door blocks) so it was very awkward. I was also right next to a window, so any noise of people walking by or wind gust going you can feel.

The staff seemed nice and he definitely was working hard, but when they put the warm towel on me, it got super cold really fast and he just kept using it to wipe off the lotion, so the massage ending was even really uncomfortable. It also was weird because I never got asked to flip over (which my fiancé did and she got some massage in the front), so now afterward it just feels really unbalanced. Not to mention the rocks burning my finance. Also, they ended up putting a curtain between us, so it wasn’t really even together in the long run.

The whole thing just felt rushed, even though we had called days ahead of time. Even when we went to pay, we were holding money to tip our masseuse and he sat on his phone and they just made a big stink out of tip being separate even as we were TRYING to tip. The woman also told us that they let you use the steam room before your massage for free, but no one offered us this service before we waiting for 35+ mins before our massage.

I didn’t give one star, because the facility seems clean and they gave you some tea beforehand and tried to offer candies to apologize for our wait. However, no real apology was given or any discounts either for the wait. Very...

First experience was great with a male masseurs. He did excellent massage and i felt great after the session. Thats the only reason for 3 stars. The second time, a female masseuse was unprofessional. Chatted with me and disrupted the session, stopped massage mid-session to go outside (counted 2 times), and she was sick?? Like blowing her nose on tissue papers multiple times 🤮 and went back on doing her job.. her massage was not great, and i had to point multiple times the spots that were bothering me??? After the session ended, i tipped her 5$ (out of 70$ bill) and she insisted that 20% tip is mandatory. There was a man (i assumed the owner) on the counter and he did not say anything. I gave her 15$ and a final goodbye to this place as I will not come back.. i went straight home to take a shower immediately.. tip for a service should be earned, it is not a birthright..

To reply to the business owner, It was indeed dragon spa. Located near reading terminal market. It was not today. It was about less than a month ago. I threw away the loyalty card that was given to me on my first visit. The card has the previous masseur name, King. I spent a lot of time looking around for a massage place that would take care of a lot of my pains. I have 2 kids, Drive Uber part time and work an Office job. I had a lot of pain in my upper and lower back along with my neck. I had been going to another place every three months or so which helped but never really solved the problems. I knew I had to go see someone better. I read a lot of reviews about Frank. I called at 11AM to book a 2 hour massage. I was booked from 1PM - 3PM. Needless to say, best decision ever. There was a language barrier but it was solved with google translate. I didn’t have to tell Frank where all my problems were and where I felt the pain. He knew just by touching. He was a professional massage therapist in China for 30 years. I highly recommend Frank to anyone. I will definitely be going back at least every other month. The price and experience was 100% worth it. You cant get better service...
