āļø 1/5 — A masterclass in customer disservice

First visit to this Nike location—and unfortunately, first impressions matter. I got in line behind a family who seemed to be visiting from out of town. No big deal—I waited patiently while one of the two employees helped them. The second employee? Staring out into space, fully disengaged. We made eye contact more than once, and I hoped that might prompt him to help, but nope—he just stood there, checked out like a broken FitBit.

After more than 10 minutes, the woman at the counter finally finished with the family and looked right at me—then hit me with, ā€œSir, are you in line?ā€ I was stunned. We’d literally locked eyes multiple times while I waited. I told her yes, and instead of helping, she shot back, ā€œWell, I’m not taking any more customers at this counter,ā€ and waved me off like I was bothering her.

I explained—calmly—that I just needed to return one item, tags still on, receipt in hand, 20 days left in the return window. Didn’t matter. She cut me off and pointed me downstairs with the kind of energy you reserve for someone trying to sneak into a VIP section.

I headed downstairs to the other counter, where I overheard two employees loudly talking about how they had to push more sales on customers to hit daily quotas. That’s fine—it’s retail. But the tone shifted when I told them I was there to make a return. Their whole vibe soured, and suddenly it felt like I was committing a crime against their sales metrics. It was awkward, uncomfortable, and honestly kind of humiliating.

Nike is a global brand. I expected at least a bare minimum level of professionalism. Instead, I got attitude, avoidance, and zero accountability.

Would I return? Not unless this store seriously rethinks how it treats paying customers. Until then, I’ll consider myself a proud founding member of the #NikeRunningForTheHillsClub all are welcome to join #NikeContactSportsRetailEdition #JustDoItBetter...

I feel like noone is being honest about this storethe selection isnt the issue nore the price - great prices good selection and on par with most good nike outlets likein VA , it is the customer service that is the issue , alot of people walking or standing around yet when you need something you have to chase them down for help and they could be near you and still won't ask if you need help . When we finally got in line it was one cashier - one messing with boxes and a line that was growing then then the box boy finally decided to log on when them manger lady told him to sign in and Also there is one guy look a little older and small fram about 5'6 or 5'7 that was extremely rude that checked me out wanted to argue about the vilidity of my gift cretificate because i didnt by then form nike site (i selected the certificate from my job incentive site we can chose any store ) -if that is the case why does nike offer gift certificates with partnership employeers and sell them retail outside of the site at other retail stores like grocery, target , etc. He almost try to make me feel like my certificate wasnt "good enough" - it worked when i told him to key in - straight clown. I should have put my sweatshirt back but i have the shorts and was looking for this exact color otherwise i would have left it . I wanted to goback and get me a few pairs shoes but thought about the experience and that was the last 30.00 from me at...

This was the best sneaker store that I ever been to in my life. I got two great pairs of sneakers and in any other store they would have been something around $150 each but I couldn't even believe it when I looked at the clearance price on the boxes they said that they were supposed to be on sale for only $69.99 and I was so happy thinking about how great of a deal that I was getting for them. But when I got up to the register to pay for them the total price was only $89 for both pairs of sneakers and I thought that maybe they made a mistake so I paid and then I ran out of the store. The next week I went back down to get another pair and they were the Kyrie Irving 3's and they where hot as hell and again said that they were $69.99 but I only paid $39.99 for them. I'm hooked now. Every single month I'm going back to buy 2 pairs...

awful ā€œpersonā€ working the register. will go back and get her name to share here. Skinny dark-skinned girl. did not let me exchange the shoes (brand new, wrong size in boxes) bc I didn’t have the receipt, but I had put in my number when purchasing. I put in my number again for the exchange and she was just lazy. Said nothing came up. Lied straight to my face. Loh n behold I logged into my account today and saw the exact purchase. Management needs to fire her. She clearly does not want the job or is too dumb to work simple tasks properly. Also on her phone when we walked up to the register (no line, was in the evening). Pictured below, the purchase is in my acc. I put in my number twice too. She needs to go.
