I had recently moved into the neighborhood and quickly became a regular at Kelliann’s with my girlfriend. From the very first time we stopped in, we loved the food, the atmosphere, and the overall vibe. We came every weekend for dinner and drinks, always had a great time, and even brought friends and family to try it out. It quickly became our go-to spot in the neighborhood.
That all changed during our most recent visit, which was supposed to be a calm birthday celebration for my girlfriend. What should have been a fun night turned into one of the most uncomfortable and unsafe dining experiences we’ve ever had.
While waiting to order, a man sat down next to our table and immediately made my girlfriend and our friend uncomfortable. He stared at them, smirked, and even licked his lips at them. He had a backpack on and headphones, and after a few minutes, went into the bathroom. At that point, we quietly told our server that this man was making us uncomfortable. The response was simply, “Don’t worry, he just closed out. He should be out of here soon.” We trusted that the server would handle it, but unfortunately, that was not the case.
The man came back and lingered near our table, still staring and smirking. Then he sat down again next to us, claiming to be “waiting for the bathroom,” and repeated the same behavior. At this point, my girlfriend and her friend were shaking and clearly distressed. We informed the server again, only to be told, “Ignore it. You all just have to ignore it.” It was clear our concerns weren’t being taken seriously, and the women at the table felt unsafe and dismissed.
A few minutes later, the man went up to the bar and ordered a shot. The server gave it to him, despite already being told he was making patrons feel unsafe. The man then leaned on our table, staring and smirking at my girlfriend and her friend again. I told him directly to leave us alone, and he responded, “Why can’t I look at them? Why do you care?” At this point, I was angry, but my girlfriend urged me not to escalate, so once again I asked the server for help. This time, he looked at me and continued serving other customers as if our situation wasn’t happening.
Finally, my girlfriend asked for our food to-go, saying we would be leaving. Only then did the server attempt to intervene, and even then it wasn’t immediate. He stood there arguing with the man while the man continued staring, smirking, and licking his lips at the women. It was disturbing, and it felt like the staff were more concerned about not offending the harasser than protecting the safety of their own customers.
After 40 minutes to an hour of this behavior, another patron finally said that the man had been grabbing his girlfriend inappropriately. Only then was he finally kicked out. By that time, the damage was done—my girlfriend and our friend were shaken, upset, and felt unsafe for the entirety of what was supposed to be a birthday dinner.
We have always loved Kelliann’s food, and that’s why we came back week after week. But this experience was not just disappointing—it was unacceptable. A customer was repeatedly harassing women, and the staff ignored multiple pleas to step in. If the server had acted the first time we asked for help, we would have had another great evening. Instead, the two women at my table left feeling unsafe and unheard, and the staff’s lack of urgency in protecting them made it worse.
It is very sad that in a place we trusted and supported, women felt in danger when they asked for help. The staff’s inaction made it feel like our concerns didn’t matter. Because of this, we don’t see ourselves returning. A restaurant or bar should never make its customers—especially women—feel unsafe when the situation could have been...
Read moreOkay, so i moved to Philly a week ago and had looked up bars and places to eat close to our new place. Kelliann's had a good rating and an appetizing menu, so we decided to try it out. I was NOT disappointed! First off, just look at the offerings on the menu. Seriously, everything sounds great. We ate there, outside, which has nice picnic tables and a TV! I love French onion soup and they offer a great one! I had the Kelliann's burger as well, which was fantastic. Gf had FO soup for the first time and also loved it. She had a wrap that disappeared into her gullet as well, giving me a thumbs up. 2nd time she had the French onion burger because she love the soup so much. Another thumbs up! I had the wings that I had read about. Just the mild, I will try the Kelliann's sauce next time. I really love wings and I'm very picky...they were great! Gf tasted the sauce and agreed. I ordered mild to get a baseline on these, but even they had some spice to them. Gf had to take a few extra drinks. They're heavily sauced and messy, which is how I LOVE my wings! My beard was basically sauced by the end. This is my new place to eat. I need to get to know these people and hope they accept a Giants...
Read moreWent to visit my youngest in Philly today at lunch time... He wanted to introduce us to Kelliann's. And let me tell you, it was great. Ordered wings... Half with the house signature sauce a mix of hot and garlic parm... And the other half they called bee sting... Let me tell you, some of the best wings I've ever had in Eastern PA... Both sauces had the same base but had truly distinct flavor and both were delicious... Better half got a French Onion soup... Such deep flavor... Buttery and fill of dark caramelized onions covered with a thick cap of melted gruyere... Such a great flavor... Buttery, meaty... Delicious... She got a crab cake on her salad... She loved that as well.. fresh house made... And I had the Reuben... Well toasted buttery bread with a great cheese melted over good corned beef and sour kraut... So good... Do yourself a favor and be hungry...
