It was an interesting experience during our 3.5 years at 1 Brown. The management company changed at least 5 times. The roof deck closed late 2019 and only partially reopened at the end of 2022. The gate to the garage is often broken and remains open. This allows for vehicle vandalism, authorization cars parking in tenant paid spaces and strangers wandering the building. The plumbing and sewage are ongoing issues throughout the complex. sewage often backs up into the garage or lower floor units. On the higher floors, water has come through the bathroom exhaust vent repeatedly during heavy rainstorms. Washers and hot water heats often break and cause water leaks into the units below. We lost count at the number of times water came into the laundry room, closets, kitchen, living room or bathroom. Yet, we rarely received a rent credit or discount. One of the two showers could not be used. The options were minimal water or cold water. There was a water main break in 2022. The hallway carpet was removed and never replaced. Management claims they were waiting for insurance to complete the claim. The elevators break on a daily basis. We no longer reside at 1 Brown, but have spent the last few months seeking our security deposit refund. Now that we threatened legal action the management company is claiming, again, that a check was mailed. FOR YOUR HEALTH AND SAFETY, DO NOT MOVE INTO 1BROWN.

So I moved in after we had to leave our old apartment pretty quickly. This was not our first choice of place but we ended up here after our other option fell through. Life happens sometimes. So we came here ,filled out a huge lease and got the keys to our one bedroom apt. The apartments are gorgeous, quiet and pretty nicely laid out. Employees are super nice and the security guys are awesome. Makes me feel secure when I get off of shift late. My huge issue with the place is the people. Most of the people who live here have no consideration for anyone but themselves. The let their dogs pee on the porch and leave it there to stink up the whole front of the building. Leave garbage in the lobby like it's their own home with mommy to come clean up after them and take the Apple cores and coffee they drink and leave it outside on the side of the building. This is what kills this place the pompous, arrogant, self centered gross people who live here. These places are definitely very nice but unless you like living around people who are "fake wealthy" because the front door says penthouse then steer clear. The building is great, the ammentities are top notch but people seem to ruin everything.

My niece moved into the building in March 2023. Everything was ok at first however, someone believed to be the concierge (seen on camera) let someone into her apartment and when I say they stole everything, I mean that literally!!! EVERYTHING! From clothes, shoes, TVs, jewelry, plates and silverware, to the sheets on her bed! Like wth?! They literally left the apartment looking like it was for rent. EMPTY! We still have not heard back from management even though concierge was seen on camera after my niece left. He was seen going to the elevator, getting off the elevator on her floor, letting a guy in (that he previously met with, on video) in and here they come carrying everything out. Her things were removed using the concierge vehicle. They even used the freight elevator and loaded the vehicle. I believe Scott has everything to do with it because dude was caught on camera so what is the hold up! I know its close to Kensington but it isn't even the fiends that are doing this! It is totally an inside job. If I could give it zero stars they definitely wouldn't have this one.

We have lived here for a little over 4 years now. My wife and I have been huge fans since the day we moved in. The building itself, the units, the outdoor landscape, and parking lots are nice, well kept, and for the most part pretty modern (and they continue to do upgrades). We are particularly big fans of the layout of our unit...feels really spacious, has great storage space, and love the floor to ceiling windows. Some folks have left some negative reviews about them taking amenities away over the years and yes they have changed or been altered (like the moving of the grills), but what they are neglecting to mention is that it is at the fault of the residents who kept abusing and being frequently warned about not taking care of things...so you can't fault them for changing things like the grills. They are running a business and lines need to be drawn. I think they are very fair and communicative about all that.

The amenities are really solid! Specially in a booming neighborhood like northern liberties. The units are great, there is parking included, There are 2 small 'dog parks/areas' for dogs to go to bathroom, the pool is very nice, and the rooftop has been our favorite! In addition to the physical assets, we have been beyond pleased with the staff. The front desk and maintenance folks are very very nice, most take the time to know your name and who you are, they have folks walking around the property at night to keep an eye on things, and management has ALWAYS been incredibly responsive and helpful to anything from a simple maintenance request to negotiating lease renewals. Even with the (normal) turnover of folks over the years... I have always had a good relationship with front desk folks.

My wife and I will be moving in about a month, but purely because we outgrew this place over the years and now have a baby and a dog. It was time to buy a house, but if we would've decided to keep renting... We would've definitely decided to stay. Even during this time though, they have been very understanding and flexible with us on move out dates due to delivery of our new home. I would say the only complaint is there are only 2 elevators and can be somewhat slow... but hey, no place is perfect and we could not have asked for a better 4+ years here!

Thank you to Penn Treaty...

As a resident for almost 3 years it’s time I review. Where do I begin? First I’ll respond to the negative reviews... (no, I’m not being paid to say what I’m about to say): I read about the bus depot and yes that is something we’ve become accustomed to. We are in the city not quiet countryside so outside noises are not PennTreaty Pennthouses’ fault. As far as the people who whine about management having favoritism to the residents who pay their rent, well “duh” people it is a business! These are luxury apartments not subsidized living. If you can’t afford your rent then it’s your own fault for living above your means. I’ve seen people move here and treat it like a rock band treats a hotel. This is a home to a lot of us and rhe staff are family. My fiancé and I love it here. We have a 2 bedroom 2 bath in the West Tower. There are 9 closets, 2 bathrooms that are fit for royalty. Five shower heads, large jacuzzi tub, tv and marble floors in master bathroom . Six shower heads in the walk in shower in the other bathroom. Wood floors, granite countertops, stainless steel kitchen appliances, plus a master keypad to control lights, sounds, window shades and temperature. We have garage parking. The staff is beyond exemplary. There is nothing like it. We’ve tried to find a condo that we could purchase like this.. none exist. If we could buy this apartment we would in a heartbeat. What I am telling you is just this; if you move here and pay your rent as you contracted to do then you’ll have the best living experience ever. Kathy, Rebecca, Rob, Terrence, Clifford, Sean and Euton are above excellence and I don’t want to think about living without...

Lived here for nearly two years and was my very first apartment and the experience was great at first until it wasn’t. The employees between maintenance, property management and concierge staffing has a huge turn over rate. Every other day there’s someone new working here, which I found was suspicious.

When my lease was coming to an end, I decided to renew and shortly after my unit was targeted four times for break-ins in the span of a week before the new month. This forced me to move out. Property manager, Scott, is racist. Scott and his team targets single black women who most likely live alone to scare them out of living there and does not inform other residents of the multiple break ins in and surrounding the building. This place needs some remodeling and more importantly refinement of better employees who treat all residents with the same and proper respect for as much as we pay to live here and feel safe. As of today, I’m still having a hard time getting my security deposit back.

If you’re a young, African American woman looking for a “luxury living” experience, look elsewhere. Save yourself the trouble as there were others who have experienced the exact same thing I have. DO NOT trust anyone who works here as they like to set people up for robberies and always look over your lease. There’s no sense of safety here, nor security, they don’t take any safety matters seriously nor do they care about the residents. If you still live here please be careful and lookout for your neighbors. If you see something...
