Philadelphia Chinatown's 11th Street Living Space is Now Open~~

You & Me feels like an Asian department store tucked into the heart of Chinatown. The top floor is filled with cute decor items, build-your-own book nook kits, claw machines, and collectible figures — pretty similar to other stores nearby, but still fun to browse. What sets this place apart is the downstairs area, which is more of a traditional department store vibe. They’ve got a huge selection of cosmetics, a smaller section of skincare, and a whole stationery area with a ton of pens (though I’ll admit, the prices felt steep — not sure if that’s just Philly, but it’s definitely more expensive than what I’m used to). Snack selection was solid and reasonably priced, and I was excited to see the TikTok-famous mango and peach ice cream bars sold individually for \$5 each. Most places make you buy the full 3-pack for \$15 when you just want to try one, so this was a win in my book. There's also a small cafĆ© and seating area downstairs, which is a nice touch, but the cleanliness definitely needs work — the floor was sticky, trash cans were duct-taped together, and the space just didn’t feel as fresh as it should for a newer store. Service was great though — fast checkout, no one hovering over you, and the overall vibe was relaxed and easygoing. It’s not perfect, but You & Me has a fun selection and a unique setup that makes it worth checking out if you're in the area.

(I would say more of a 2.5) I’ve loved this store for a while and they have a wonderful selection on anything you can really think of! I mainly go for the makeup and i honestly just liked to roam around the store, I enjoy my time there even if I don’t end up getting anything. There are workers monitoring the areas which is a little awkward sometimes but it makes sense on why they have to do that so it never deterred me from visiting.

The reason for the 3 stars is because I took myself out on a little self date this past Sunday, specifically looking for this tinted gloss in the shade maroon. I had gone a couple days before and was stuck between that product and this other gloss and decided to just get one makeup product that day. I ended up wanting to go back to get the tinted gloss but they didn’t end up having anymore in stock. I figured I’d just roam around the store because I have also been looking for a lip mudd in the same / similar shade. I was swatching a lot of products and was there for a bit because I’m very particular on what I want but maybe that made me look suspicious? One of the employees came up to me and asked to talk to me which immediately made me anxious because I’ve been there so many times and this has never happened. My first thought was maybe they thought I was stealing because I was using my lip gloss I had bought the other day and was ready to show my receipt for it which I still had in my bag. So when she showed me the footage of this persons side profile, who was wearing something very similar and asked if that was me I said yes. She then proceeded to tell me I’d have to pay for what I have been stealing and I immediately backtracked and said wait no that’s not me then because I have never stolen from here. Now, what I was wearing was no where near unique. I was wearing black flare leggings and an oversized black zip up with my hair in the claw clip, which the girl in the video had also been wearing. The video was also older footage and I thought it was from the same day/ visit which is why I said yes. I’ll admit she did look similar to me from the side but when she turned and you could see her face it was not my face. I explained over and over again that I would never steal from this store 1 because I would never do that in the first place and 2 because I love this store and have only wanted to support by shopping there frequently and always recommending to friends and my own customers when they ask what to do in the city. She continued to accuse me of stealing and was very adamant that the person in the video was me and said she’d call the police. I repeatedly told her to call the police then because I know I have never stolen form there before and that person was not me!! I had even told her that I see why they think it’s me because yes we do look pretty similar but I have no other way to prove it’s not me other than to repeatedly say how much I love this store and would never do that. It wasn’t too busy of a night that day, but there were still people around looking at this whole thing happening, it was humiliating!! She ended up letting me go and said sorry but it didn’t seem genuine and I don’t think she actually believed me still. I ended up leaving crying because of how anxious and embarrassed I felt. I feel like I could never go back now because now the staff and other customers there think I...

The store itself is wonderful and I almost always leave buying something because they have great stuff. My only issue is that there's one specific worker who is typically stationed near the makeup and she follows you around if your skin is colored. It ruins everything else this great store has to offer. I'm brown and every time I've gone to the store she's obsessively followed me and no one else. The first time it happened I assumed it was just because they have expensive makeups. But when I changed aisles within grocery section she followed me. Even today with friends she followed our group (we were almost all colored) and when we left the makeup section and went to chips she RAN to where we were even though there were plenty of people still in the makeup section. We were the only colored people in the store at the time and she followed us pretty much the whole time till we bought our stuff so I don't know if I can excuse such blatant racism which is unfortunate because the rest of staff is very lovely. I can understand that theft will happen but the issue is they have not followed Asian people only brown or black folk which is incredibly offensive and goes against their claims of...
