Dillards is a very clean, custoner service driven department store chain. They do not have daily sales or multiple weekly sales like their competitors Belks and Macys. Having said that Belks and Macys have sales only on thier store brands and the coupons almost never work on name brand merchandise. Also both Belks and Macys standards have fallen severely and they seem almost dirty compared to Dillards. Dillards usually have their sales the last weekend of the month usually the last Wednesday thru Saturday of the month except in November and December. Belks was bought out by a private equity fund company that knows nothing about retail and Belks customer base. They have ruined Belks and Belks in turn has lost much of their loyal customers. Their employees are disheartened and disgruntled and as a Customer their brands have cheapened and the quality has fallen. Macys seems inept and lost and again gheir dales are just gimmicks trying to drive traffic in the hopes that you will buy anything from them just because you took your time to go their. Sorry Macys your coupons do not work on anything name brand. The Belks and Macys names are just shells of their former selves. Dillards has maintained their standards but for how much longer they will be able remains unknown. Pressures from a walmart minded public wanting cheap goods are not Dillards customer base. I myself do not shol at walmart but at Target. I no longer shop at Macys and now Belks they have the Walmart mentality and are not for me. I am not wealthy but I have standards. In the long run I save much more money by shopping Target than Walmart by getting the 5% discount by using the free Target debit card a.d credit card. I save much more money by shopping Dillards end of the month sales rather than chasing hollow and empty coupon sales at Dillards competitors. Both Target and Dillards are clean and friendly and have better cuatomer service while Walmart, Belks and Macys if you can find an employee to help you are...
Read moreI never felt so uncomfortable shopping. My sister and I were shopping with our babies who are less than one years old. Long story short one of the staff members apparently thought we were trying to steal merchandise we didn’t realized we were being followed and watch until we went to the restroom. We had 4 items and we had to use the restroom and change the babies diaper. We went into the restroom not knowing it was a problem to go in with the items we wanted to buy. I would advice to put up sign so customers are aware. Anyways we were followed into the restroom by a staff member she came to let us know it wasn’t allowed. which wasn’t a problem we understood what we didn’t appreciate was that she touch our stuff before asking permission todo so or even giving us a chance to hand them to her. Then once we were done with using the restroom we walked out and saw she had security outside the restroom which had us more confused us to what the heck is this lady thinking. We were going to continue shopping but she p proceeded to have as followed by her in the security. We no longer felt comfortable shopping so we decided to just go ahead and pay for our merchandise and leave. I totally understand in retail you have to look out for potential thieves as I have worked in retail for 10 years but never in my life did I ever make anyone feel uncomfortable cause I’m the end of the day I want to promote good customer service and definitely not make a good customer feel uncomfortable. That whole situation could have been handled in a so much better way. And as well be Preventable! Again PUT A SIGN!!! I give it two stars because there were at least 3 staff that were very helpful, they offered help when they saw we needed help. They deserve 5 stars but the company obviously needs to do some training on...
Read moreI’m writing this review with a heavy heart after a disappointing experience my mother and I had during our visit yesterday. We were simply trying to find the fitting room, but the way the employee approached us was shockingly rude and unwelcoming. Her tone and approach were unnecessarily harsh and made me feel completely unwelcome.
I’m not sure if this behavior is directed at all customers, if she was having a bad day, or if it was something more hurtful—like the color of our skin—but it left a sour taste in my mouth. What hurt the most was seeing how it affected my mother, who has been a loyal Dillard’s customer for years. Most of her wardrobe—from clothes to shoes—comes from here. She has always loved shopping at Dillard’s, and I didn’t even have the heart to translate or explain the employee’s tone to her.
We didn’t expect to be treated like that and it broke the warm feeling we usually associate with this store. I hope Dillard’s takes customer service seriously and addresses these types of interactions so no one else has to feel this way.
I’m sure her name was Linda, after we finally left the area she was hovering over us at and came back to it later on another employee was calling for her.
This occurred after my mom wanted to try something on in front of a mirror and Linda made a smart remark saying we should know where the fitting room is at since that’s where we first encountered us at. Terrible tone and demeanor. We couldn’t leave the store...
