"Not All Dispensaries Are Created Equal," I thought as I walked to the front door of what looked like an upscale Nightclub. At my former dispensary, you were forced to wait in your car until your name was called. That is NOT the move when you are wanting to purchase your Pre-Ordered Cannabis.
Once I showed my ID to the very nice Security Guard at the door, I entered the very open foyer where you put your ID into a machine to be scanned(no one has to touch your ID which is a great touch!). The Person at the Desk is ALWAYS super welcoming to this fine establishment. I ask a LOT of questions, and they were answered so pleasantly by the person who happened to be working reception that day. Then the magic happens, You get buzzed into the Garden.
Bloom Brothers employs Women and Men who ALL possess knowledge of the products they sell, and an aura of "Come on Over, We Got You." This is true, as the website boasts an almost ENDLESS array of products.I had the pleasure of interacting with Matthew-the Guru, who possesses a Cannabis acumen that I havent encountered anywhere else. He was SUPER helpful, and so nice that I stood and asked more questions that he answered with ease. I also worked with Chuck-the Helper. He must have went to 3 different coworkers for an answer to my question on a price of a Silicone Water Bong, that was so cool I came back and purchased it 2 days later. Chuck was even nice enough to hold it for me until then. That is unheard of at any dispensary. Then I interacted with the Women of the BB world-the Queen Bees. Every Woman that works there seems to be secretly keeping everything smooth as a pre-roll. Each of them had such a great spirit, as I asked more questions, and everyone came over to help, as I was the only customer in the store by then(I told you, I ask a lot of questions!) If the vibe is right in a space you are shopping, sometimes you don't want to leave, you want to know more about the place that you will come to frequent.
Lastly I met Chris-The Special One. Chris is a Jack of All Bloom Brothers trade. He helped out with showing me different prices, and answering my potency questions. He also has a wonderful Green thumb on him. He explained to me what it was like for him to help package a a very potent flower up, from the cultivar, and I saw the picture he painted SO clearly to me. You have to ask questions and have an Open spirit to interact in such a high-tech environment(security is top notch).
The Environment of the Store is akin to an Apple store. It is Bright, airy, spacious, and fun. There are flat screens all over the walls displaying a rolling loop of their massive menu. It is quite aesthetically pleasing to the eye. They care about the Customers who patronize their store. I'm 5 visits in and I travel from Albany. Its a very nice 48 minute ride, with me singing and excited like Christmas every time I go. Ive already referred 3 friends here. If you make the smart decision to come here, you will stay. The prices are the lowest ive seen in the area for such Premium Products. Bloom Brothers Dispensary is where you need to plant yourself. The growth and yield will NOT disappoint you. I suspect that Massachusetts companies have a ways to go before matching Colorado's/California's quality. I know that it is not Bloom Brothers fault, but some of the products that I have tried, were not very special.
For example, my absolute favorite strain, is Sour Diesel. I LOVE the pungent gasoline smell... and that sweet, skunky, grapefruit taste. I love the dense, sticky buds with that special pink tinge of color. I adore the incense type smell that it leaves behind after smoking, and that heady cerebral sativa high it has, is to die for!
Well, I can't find a product with that description anywhere. So far... I have purchased 8ths of Sour Diesel × Animal Cookies, East Coast Sour Diesel, and Sour Diesel from Bloom Brothers. NONE of them exhibit that famous Sour Diesel look, smell, taste, or high! The East Coast S.D. had a purple tinge, pleasant aroma, and was the closest to SD when it comes to smell and high... BUT, the flavor was not what I was expecting it to be. Both the S.D.×A.C and the S.D. had a slight "green" (chlorophyll) smell and the harsh taste, typical of a rushed harvest and/or cure.
The S.D.×A.C. tasted like every other run of the mill strain. What use to be called "mids" a.k.a brick weed. Nothing about it really stood out to me, and if the package did not say that it was a Sour D cross, I would not have guessed that it was in anyway related to Sour D.
My most recent buy was the "Sour Diesel" grown by the "be well" company. I am so upset with this purchase, that I am writing it off as a complete loss. The supposed S.D. smells like moldy potpourri and spinach, sprinkled with black pepper and dirt. NO Diesel smell whatsoever! The taste is akin to an earthy mushroom flavored walnut. Again, not even CLOSE to ANY sour strain that I have ever had. The buds are a good size, but are dry, and loose. It reminds me of the 100 dollar an ounce homegrown "KB" Uncle Bob grows in his closet with compact florescent lights and miracle grow! Not a vouched for.. and tested 70 dollar an 8th Sour Diesel purchased from professionals! I am disabled, and I am on a fixed income. 70 dollars is a lot of money for me to spend on weed. I seriously have 3 year old homegrown that tastes better than what I was just sold.
I wish that there was a way to sample, or at least inspect, the products before purchasing. One sniff of the bag, and I would have known to pass on it and not to waste my money. Perhaps a terpene profile listed on the website could have saved me from this let down. One downfall to this emerging market, is the "no refund" policy! Next purchase, I may go somewhere else, as I continue my quest in finding my favorite strain. I do not have any Ill will towards B.B. and I would definitely try different strains from them. Maybe the pre-rolls, so that way, if I am unhappy with a strain, I'm only out 20-30 bucks...
Read more12/13/22 They contacted me and offered me an excellent solution. I'm really happy. If I want to know terpene % I'll shoot them an email a few days before, see if that works. 12/11/22 update: Couple issues. I'll be interested to see how they play out. First, bought some THC isolate on recommendation of the Budtender when I got it home and opened, it was rock hard and obviously very oxidized old product and impossible to work with. I immediately fired off an email to them on 12/9 and have not heard back yet if they can return, swap or offer some consideration for the oxidized product. Secondly, the budtender was not prepared to have a conversation about the terpene % of his product. He did not know, or any of the Budtenders, what flowers had what total % of terpenes and could not recommend a strain with high terpenes. Terpenes are the taste makers and important to me when picking out a strain. The Budtender (freshly back from Caribbean vacation according to him) set me up with his recommendation, a cheap eighth that upon review, had very little terpenes and was reminiscent of hay. He also told me he doesn't really smoke cannabis, I only assume he told me to justify his complete lack of knowledge of what he was selling. I have no idea why I trusted the budtender and his recommendation. Thank goodness it was cheap. A one hour class on terpenes and maybe a up to date chart with the offerings they have with terp percentages would go a long way. When he made change and I did not tip him money I also felt the energy of the interaction change significantly. So, lets see how they react to the first bad product issue, if they react at all, and I'll update later.
Update: Have gone several times and each time everyone is happy to see you answer questions and even joke around a little. Pre-order got texts when it was ready. Greeted well with smiles all around.
