Deidre's is my go-to when needing an event gown, bridal or otherwise. I've been there for prom dresses (15ish years ago), recommended other brides go there (my bestie ended up getting her bridal dress there 12 years ago), gotten several bridesmaids/formal dresses there over the years, recommended family go there for their alterations on formal dresses (this year & years prior) and done so myself, and now for my own wedding dresses this year.

Working with them has been a consistently good experience and they have gone above and beyond to make everyone's visions come to life that I've sent there. I've never once been shamed or made to feel badly about myself or my body when working with them, and even when they express concerns, I've found it's kind and down to earth. They're real people, and they always communicate with best intent. When they have concerns about something being less flattering or too tight a fit, they'll do you the courtesy of telling you. If they feel the need to tell you that you might bust a seam, it's to give you an accurate idea of what could happen, not to be cruel. They want to see you happy and to have photos/an event day you look back on happily, not to experience a moment of "oh my God why didn't anyone tell me I looked like that?!". It's a boutique, not a TV show. They respect you enough to tell you and not let people snicker at you later when you bust a seam.

That being said, their communication is as clear as you are. They're extremely responsive to requests and information. I told them at the beginning of one bridal fitting that it was a really emotional day due to a recent major family loss, and that the morning of that fitting, my grandpa was being sent home from the hospital actively dying on hospice, not expected to make it more than a couple of days. They gently suggested we reschedule (like any normal person would do), but when I explained I wanted to try and show my grandpa my dress before he passed, they did EVERYTHING they possibly could to make sure I still had the best experience possible that day. They took care of me during the fittings and Deidre rushed alterations for me so I could show my grandpa before he died. For the record, we made it in time.

As if all of that's not enough, my now husband and I are adventurers and did a forest ravine hike & photo shoot to elope before the big wedding. I told them what I was doing, showed them my Pinterest board, and they were able to help make recommendations on a dress that could hold up for both that AND still be useful for the formal ceremony after. It was a gamble and they were clear that it might not work for both, but let me know which of my dresses was best suited to handle the hike and keep kicking after. For the record, it worked out PERFECTLY. Pics attached!

I could go on and on - these are just a glimpse of the tons of experiences that I (and my friends and family) have had with them. We keep going back for more! I now drive 3 hours round trip because I no longer live in that area, but it's still worth it for me to go work with Deidre and know that I'm supporting a local business that works damn hard to take care of their customers.

TLDR

Communication is key. They're real people with good intentions, not staged and set on a TV show. Be real with them and actually communicate your needs and you'll be very happy. Prices are fair for both dresses and alterations. Selection is good, better for bridal dresses than for bridesmaids. They're not a big box store, they're a boutique. We find the dress styles to be up to date and change with the trends while keeping classics too. On the rare occasion they make a mistake (or something doesn't come out as expected, like the wrong dress gets shipped from the order or something), an alteration lays different than intended, they fix it promptly. I've experienced them going above and beyond FAR beyond what any big store would possibly do.

10/10 Thank you,...

TLDR: Don't waste your time here. Rude and unhelpful.

When I was in high school I went dress shopping here and had a negative experience. I felt like nobody was helping me or taking me seriously until I tried on one of the most expensive dresses in the store.

Years later when I got engaged I came here to shop for a wedding dress. It was my first time trying on wedding dresses and I was excited but nervous. I was nervous that I would be made to feel uncomfortable or body shamed and my worst fears came true.

The appointment started by my consultant telling me to look around and pull something I like. She did not ask me what I wanted and pull dresses for me. I pulled a few dresses and explained what I liked to my consultant. She brought me everything but what I described. I was constantly put in poofy dresses even though I said repeatedly that it wasn't what I wanted.

There was one dress that I liked but I was told that most of their dresses came in a sample size 6, so as a size 12 I was out of luck. My consultant suggested to me that I just order this $2000 dress without trying it on. They also told me there was no way to request a sample in another size, even when I offered to pay to get the additional sample dress.

I am happy to say that I found the dress of my dreams in another store. They customized it for me, listened to my wishes, and were so fabulous. When I told them the dress I wanted to try on (the same one from this store) they double checked the size of the sample prior to my appointment, but offered to order it in the necessary size if it wasn't...

I bought a beautifully unique dress to wear at my daughter’s wedding from Deidre’s Special Day in Pittsfield along with two yards of additional fabric. Although I let them know I was visiting from out of town, this was my first stop and my intention was to shop around before making a purchase, they were attentive and managed to find a dress that I couldn’t walk away from. I did, however want a longer sleeve and asked if I could purchase the fabric. They followed through, contacted the manufacturer and took care of that order. The problems began when expected delivery dates to their store came and went. I have never worked with any business that provided such wonderful communication and follow-through. One of the owners called the manufacturer and delivery services while I waited, gave me his cell phone number and encouraged me to call as often as I wanted to. He was even better than his word tracking down what was not their fault and providing information to me several times a day. He persevered until he resolved the situation and insisted on personally delivering it to me at work, well over an hour away. At no time did I ask for or expect this level of service; they just did it. Deidre’s has also offered a full refund. I cannot recommend them enough. It is so rare to find this level of consideration, kindness and professionalism. My shoes and my sister’s dress for the wedding were also purchased at Deidre’s Special Day. Regardless of the distance, they will continue to be...

I got my dress from Deidre's Special Day and had an AMAZING experience! I worked directly with Deidre and she was BEYOND accommodating. After trying to find alteration shops in the Boston area (since that's where I currently live) as my initial intent was alter my grandmother's wedding dress I was disappointed to have not found a reliable one. While home for the January Bridal Expo I met Deidre. After our first consultation, the way the dress fit me meant a total reconstruct. Despite not having an actual dress fitting appointment she let me try on one dress. It was the first dress I tried on other than my grams and it was 'THE ONE.' My (now) husband and I decided to elope meaning the dress instead of being ready for October would need to be ready in a short 3.5 months from January when we first met. She was SO accommodating and squeezed me in AND opened the shop early for me to have my dress fittings. Oh, and in that 3.5 months I was also living in Israel for 1 month of it. Needless to say, not only did she do it by ahead of schedule, but the alterations were immaculate, including the custom work on the inside of the dress (which was a last minute request to have a heart stitched on the inside of my dress with my poppy's blue tie). Overall, I think we all have different experiences, (if you can't already tell) I certainly can't recommend the shop enough! <3

Deidre was absolutely incredible and I would highly recommend shopping there and working with her team! Deirdre tailored my dream wedding dress to perfection! The dress was unique and quite complex to make work with my height, and it could not have come out more beautiful. Deirdre and her team made us feel special and gave great attention to make sure everything came out flawless. When we left for my final fitting we saw a double rainbow right outside the shop which was a great omen!
