UPDATE: With things the way they are now, I probably should have expected this. The Survey I filled out a while back felt like they were wanting to go on some sort of self-absorbed, arrogant attitude instead of being the local community focused company/store it was... what I liked best about this Biggby store. Months later, here we are, seeing that same attitude reflected in operations. Corporate greed has stepped in. I used to love going here. I would take coupons to hand out to people who had never heard of them. I would hand out coupons to contractors and clients! I even considered doing a franchise when I retired. That means a fixed income for which I've been trying to practice for. This Biggby has gone from being a place to relax and enjoy the servers banter, a coffee or bragel, to a rather cold, high-priced atmosphere. I had to drop a few stars due to this strange change in management and/or corporate policies and attitude. We used to go there almost every-other day, but now, due to the changes, we are lucky to go there more than twice a month. Soon, it may drop to not going there at all. All the old staff members are gone. There used to be a note on the front door that said, "Veteran Operated," but that's gone. Raised prices, nick-picky changes in add-ons and short-lived store (handed out from the store) coupons that used to be honored past their expiration dates, are no longer. The good coupons like BOGO's are a thing of the past. Even on the corporate level, buying the things at the store, can only be purchased from corporate on-line. Word is, they will soon be phasing our favorites out there as well. In essence, this once Award-Winning Biggby store has become another dingy lesser version of Starbucks. What made it special, is gone. I don't know what's happened, but unless you have a large discretionary income, or paying $17+ for 2 drinks is OK with you, it's not the place it was. Look, I don't mind paying more if something I'm paying for is better. I don't mind paying more to give the staff there higher pay. I don't mind giving Tips when the service is exceptional (but making the customer pay for a Tip based on the person to take an order?), and I tend to give well over 20% Tips anyway. BUT, Nothing has really changed product-wise, except the rising prices (lack of good coupons) and less personable service than before. The joy seems to be sucked out. It's not better. Do better. Staff is great! Service is fast and friendly. The place is always spotless and the coffee is superb! Considering I was not really a coffee drinker before, this is a shock to me. I'm now a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I have been faithful customers (3-4 times a week) of Bigby Coffee at the Plainfield location ever since it opened. We, of course, always use coupons because the coffee is expensive. This location has always honored multiple coupons, even if they had to ring it as two separate orders.
Today, we went through for our morning coffee and, unfortunately, ran head-long into a very uncooperative attendent. She said we could only use one coupon per order. We asked her to run it as two separate orders, but she refused.
In the interest of resolving this peacefully, we ordered only one coffee, paid for it, and left. After circling the building, we went back to the drive-thru and ordered a second coffee. When we got to the window to pay, we saw the same attendent. She, of course, recognized that we had just gone through a minute before and refused to take the coupon. We got into a bit of an argument about this being a separate visit. She called for a manager. A very rude lady appeared and said that she would go ahead and take the coupon this time, but don't try it again.
We asked her if she was really willing to start a fight with a regular customer over this issue and reminded her that's how businesses go out of business.
The only reason a business issues coupons is because it improves their bottom line. My personal opinion is, if Bigby doesn't want to honor coupons, stop issuing them.
Now, we have delema on our hands. We have to find a new place to buy morning coffee. Sorry, Bigby, it looks like you won't be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI like their drinks, so that's why I'm giving them a two, but their service is a one. I occasionally do Shipt shopping, and had their order one day. 36 gallons of milk. Once I showed up at their door, with 9 crates of milk, I was asked to carry each crate all the way inside to their kitchen. These things are not light. Then the worker unloaded them and I carried the empty crates back to my vehicle. Then they requested I take the crates all the way back to the store. Now I get that sometimes people order a lot of things, or that things can be heavy, but all that manual labor work, to include going back to the store, and I was not given a tip. Asking me to take things back to the store is completely uncalled for in itself. Pardon me, but that's BS. I know that tips aren't required, but a business can afford to tip for such a purpose. A franchise/business should be more respectable. If that's how they're going to treat their help, then they're going to lose their help through Shipt, because nobody is going to take their orders. Apparently they do this several times a week. You better believe not only have they lost my services as a shopper, but also my business as a customer.
In addition to this, their overall output pace is extremely slow, in comparison to a rival such as Starbucks. At least 5 times slower. So don't expect to go here and get in and out relatively quickly if you're used to Starbucks, because they don't...
