There are many aspects to my review, so if you want my honest, overall review, please read to the end :)
The Store Selection: I like pretty much ALL of Boscov's selection, from Kitchen Appliances, Beds/Bed Frames, Clothing...whatever they have, I want!! Their selection is outstanding (so you might be wondering why I gave this store a 4 star review instead of 5 stars - you will find out later). I think I really have a thing for their dresses and dressy clothing because it's amazing...they have all the good brands for less than you would pay at the brand's own store. For example, they had a Calvin Klein peacoat for $200. At any CK, inc. store, it would be $250-300, which is an amazing price for Boscov's if you think about it.
Location: I really like the location because it's convinient for me (I live in Roxborough, Philadelphia, PA) because it's attatched to the mall, which I frequently shop at. Say if I needed some new lipstick, I could go to Macy's but if I need something very frivalous like...I dunno...some new nail polish, they have Sally Hansen waiting for you in the store, so you can't go wrong with the location. Plus, the store is easily accessible for wheelchairs, walkers or the elderly because the store has stairs, escelators and elevators for all body types/needs.
Customer Serivce: Now this topic is the things that brings my rating from a 5 star to a 4 star because they aren't very helpful when it comes to "Can you help me find something?" or "Which way is the exit?" - simple questions. They usually (from experience) just point and give you directions where I think they should assist you there and actually move on it instead of just showing you. Especially because I'm not very good with directions, I usually need to be shown when it comes to a busy store on a Friday/Saturday, I usually just end up getting lost and asking a random stranger for help, they even help more than Customer Service, so I give Customer Service a 2 star rating.
Enviroment: This is an important topic to many many people, especially people with disabilities or certain health conditions. I have Asthma, so in some places when it's too hot, too cold or too crowded, my face gets flushed and I have breathing issues. So I thought I'd put out there what I thought of the store surroundings :) . So - usually the store is fairly clean and usually the temperature in the store is alright except when they blast head during not-so-cold days or when they blast air-coniditioning in semi-cold weather, or simply when they don't put on any air-condition or heat to comfort you from the outside temperature. This bugs me because I'm always having to leave the store when that happens and not finishing my shopping. The store is usually clean, some spots and maybe a little trash here and there, but it's usually okay. The bathrooms are a different story. I don't care for their bathrooms because they aren't nice-looking, remodeled or anything. They look like they're only cleaned like once every day and the walls have graffiti (Graffiti: Marker, pencil, spray-paint). The bathroom stalls aren't in great condition (as they should be) but they're useable. Just please used toilet paper or one of those wax covers when you used the toilet.
Prices: They have good prices, in my opinion. They're not too expensive, but be warned, they are not that cheap. They usually have some VERY nice sales going on, but when they do not, it's still buyable for a Lower-Middle Class person at least. I feel like a lot of Upper Middle Class people would shop here rather than Lower because the prices are MORE convinient for them. You could buy a mattress for up to $500 at Boscov's and usually minimum of $100, so for someone in the Upper Middle Class, no problem right? But for someone Lower Middle Class, may be a problem right? Their clothes are the best priced things in the store, followed by Kitchen Appliances. Their furniature, could be cheaper, but I'm not going to complain because I've seen A LOT higher.
I hope this review was helpful, I know it was long,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreboscovs is my go to for inside store apparel! Itās very easy to get in and out. although I end up staying more than I ever intend to. Macys may be bigger but Boscovs has its own department for Junior wear (older teens and us women who want to remain young!) prices seem less when they are on sale or clearance. A big selection for Womens PJS. Most shoes appear for comfort. Yes, heels can be therapeutic, they are like walking all a cloud! If the look of a pocketbook comes before the branding. They again have a big selection. High end make up, channel perfume. The male manager is fantastic however there is a āBettyā who was underdressed. Had an attitude from the start. Tossing my clothes and throwing what I ended up not purchasing. It was approaching closing time. Sheās giving me the rush act āordering meā to be faster. Mind you. I was purchasing more than $300 in sales. Not just some $10 item. The never happened because she failed to pull up the transaction. Iāve had my share of agitated staff but not as bad a the individual I mentioned above. Itās wonderful Boscovs has shopping carts. Iām moving as fast as I can. The young gentleman was as well. Iām placing my items on the counter and Betty actually called me āinconsiderateā I told her thatās a pretty big word. She prattled on about those that need to take the bus. I asked her āany other names youād like to call me that the male manager should be appear ofā she return never ended up happening nor did she give me another option, I didnāt want cash all I wanted was her to take the brand new item back. She may of ended up saying Thankyou or goodbye but it was insincere. And sent me on my way. Now I will not let that accept my shopping experience per say but as a paying customer, stand your ground, Afterall isnāt the customer always right? Still I give the dept store 5 stars but certainly not for most the staff. Speak to the manager,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe lady at the lingerie section was very rude to me tonight. She asked if I needed help and I said I was just looking. Then she asked if I was going to try on the items in my cart. I told her yes. I went into the dressing room and tried everything on. I found one thing I really like but it was too big so I went back out to try to see if they had a smaller size. The same lady came over to me again and said, "Excuse me, what are you looking for because you can't just keep trying stuff on there's going to be a limit." I told her I was looking for a different size and she asked what brand the item was. I reluctantly told her instead of just walking away and she showed me where it was and I told her they didn't have my size and then left. I was planning on buying two items each about $30 but I decided I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. I've never heard of a department store limiting how many items you can try on and they way she said it to me was incredibly rude. I work in the mall and was wearing my work shirt so I think she should have been a little nicer to me in general but also because I buy a lot at that store since I work nearby. I also heard her arguing with another customer while I was in the dressing room. I couldn't hear what the issue was but the customer said, "I just don't understand because no one has ever asked me that question before." So clearly this lady has her own rules. I couldn't get her name because I didn't want to go near her again and have her yell at me once more. She was an older lady., African American, short curly black hair and was working the lingerie department at 8 on 8/24. The employees have been very rude to me in the past too so I dread going in there, but it's convenient because of my job. Not sure I'll be buying anything else...
