Terrible experience. More so with the artist I picked but afterward with the shop. Very unprofessional. First time using them and I will not be back nor would I recommend to anyone else. I paid my deposit in December with an artist-- went into the pooler location to discuss what I wanted with him-- he told me to send him inspiration/descriptions through his IG. It took weeks to get a rendering, fine. After multiple follow-ups, I did not come in to get the work done until JUNE. My tattoo should've taken 2 hours to complete and instead he only got halfway through it in that time. Then he tells me he's leaving for the summer and will be back in 6 weeks. July comes-- he says he unexpectedly needed to move across country and will be back at the end of August to finish my tattoo... August comes-- then another excuse and he will instead come back in September. September comes-- another excuse. On the final follow-up-- he vaguely says he will be back when his kids have a break in school-- no definite timeline. Needless to say-- I would not let him finish even IF he comes back to town. His name is Hector, IG: Hextattoos. Unreliable and unprofessional.
At this point-- I've been patient enough. I go into the shop to ask management for a resolution as I've now been walking around for 5 months with a half-finished piece on my arm. (I'm not the only person this guy left with an unfinished piece.) They say I can go to another artist with similar style-- but will have to pay the price of an entirely new tattoo. I ask over several WEEKS to speak to the owner-- who conveniently is never around and I never get a callback. So I'm left $350 down the drain, looking crazy with an incomplete tattoo on my forearm-- no one willing to take any accountability or...
Read moreAsked tattoo artist katylnn for a specific tattoo and gave a visual exactly how I wanted the tattoo to look. When I got to the appointment she didn’t tell me she took out details from the tattoo. Placement was right on top of my other tattoo which I told her the lines were over my other tattoo she said it wouldn’t be like that when she’s finished. After she finished I felt like something was missing with it but couldn’t place it so I figured if I had any concerns I’d bring it up to her when I can place it. A few hours later i realized the tattoo was upside down, lots of detailing and shading was missing, and the placement was directly by my other tattoo. I brought this up to her asking if half or some of my money could be refunded because this isn’t what I asked for. She said it’s not refundable and she can fix it after two weeks. I told her that I wouldn’t want her to retouch anything at this point because this isn’t what I asked for and would like to get my previous tattoo artist to fix it but some of my money would need to be returned. She stated that the tattoo is not incomplete and she did take out details of my reference tattoo picture that I showed her because she didn’t think I’d wanna walk around with someone else’s design and could not refund me. I have to get the tattoo completed and my other tattoo covered to make my half sleeve look acceptable now. The attitude from her that I received was insane considering I wasn’t try to be disrespectful about it even tho it’s permanent I never said the tattoo was ugly just that it isn’t what I asked her to do and was expecting some type of professionalism or...
Read moreThe tattoo artist was good, but you could tell he was kinda new to this profession. He told us he'd only been a tattoo artist for 2 years. Was a little heavy-handed, but I powered through it. What really bothered me is how he made us wait 2 hours, partially to arrive at our appointment on time, and partially because he kept getting up to talk to walk-ins, interrupting our tattoo sessions, instead of making the walk-ins sit and wait for a little while, or asking them to return later to consult. I highly recommend making consultation appointments a part of your appointment system. However, I do want to compliment and thank Uji for giving me a great price on my tattoo and for working as quickly as he could even though he was pressed for time for his next appointment. My pro tip is, let people wait a little bit. Not a ridiculous amount of time, but some people can wait 20 to 30 mins for you to finish what you're doing. If they just walked in for a consult without an appt, have a sign in sheet to call them back later and set a formal appointment time to consult in depth with details and questions/concerns, etc. All in all, this was a vacation tattoo which came out very nice, and I appreciate Uji for helping me and my friends out by accommodating our requests for variations on a similar design. I would come back for sure, but with a better appointment time and much clearer instructions of what...
