I have visited this movie theater over 10 times with no issues... until today. My partner and I purchased a medium soda and a medium popcorn from a young lady with glasses and long black hair ( I think her name was Raien) on the far left when walking in the building. I informed her that we would be paying with a gift card but was unsure of the balance. She said the "cost was $16" and then said she would "swipe the gift card." The receipt came up and she tore it off. I had my hand out and she said "you don't need that." I asked about the gift card and she said "you had exactly $16 left." I knew this was not the case because the gift card was either fully loaded (at $50) or had nothing at all. We walked away to fill our soda. Still questioning the abrupt transaction I asked my partner to retrieve the gift card or the receipt. When he went back up to her she said it "did not print a receipt." (It had printed a receipt, all 3 of us saw it.) He then asked for the card back and she said she had to keep it to give to management with her drawer. Due to this being very unusual, my partner asked to speak to manager. While waiting, I asked to at least see the gift card we used. She complied and I checked the balance on the royal cinemas website. It said $34. I informed her and at this point the manager was there who said he'd check the balance and confirmed the $34 balance. I quickly explained that the circumstances were incredibly suspicious and it was not right. My partner asked if they thought we were fools. This clearly was not a misunderstanding. The manager responded by saying she was 16 and it was her first job. The movie was starting and we left knowing that we needed to let someone else know about this incident. I'm am confident this was not the first time this had happened due to her persistence and the refusal to comply with typical business dealings when using a gift card at an establishment. I hope that the proper actions have taken place so that this doesn't happen to other patrons. I would also ask that you get management on board with a better alternative to handling situations like this because she was still at the cash register when we left the movie. The entire interaction was distressful to both my spouse and I and we had to walk away and watch a movie like nothing just happened. If she will steal from your customers then she will steal from your business. Being 16 is no...
Read moreI always enjoy my experience in this imax theatre. The seats are very comfy and recline a little. Arm rests can come up and down.
It's always clean and I don't feel gross leaning my head back against the chair.
The climate control & temperature was amazing It was cold outside and though I brought a sweater it wasn't necessary.. every time I felt a little warm it's like the AC system knew to blow a bit of cold air at me. To underline it was cold outside but every once in a while I felt a breeze of cold air. It's like they had a laser to monitor body tempreture of each guest and keep them optimal.. which sounds crazy, but each time I became a tad warm (I was wearing a loose hoody) a crisp breeze of air would refresh me.
The staff is friendly and it seems like customer service is important to them, even those taking your ticket are very helpful and socially nice.
I dont watch movies often, but when I do, I go out of my way to go here. It's definitely worth $16 a ticket opposed to 8-12$ for a non imax theater.
My only complaints are that: sound can be a little too loud. if you're the type of person who that would bug, you'd notice it in the imax intro before the movie, soon after the trailers stop. If you're really worried, some sort of ear plugs which limit but not eliminate sound would not be overboard to bring. The website for buying tickets is not great; but, it's functional. If you buy tickets online you'll still need to show the ticket booth the confirmation email to receive your...
Read moreImagine driving 55 minutes to a theater playing the movie you want to see, on your mommy daughter outing, you walk in and all the young people behind the concessions awkwardly stand there & say nothing. They didn’t greet us, they didn’t say “how can I help you” nothing.. finally I said “do we just come to you?” Because I didn’t know which register was open. We walk up to the guys register… he still stands there and says nothing. I start ordering my tickets & food. I had my 6 & 9 year old with me… he rang us all up as adults. Thankfully I caught that. When I finished paying, he was still silent.. no “enjoy your movie” “your movie is down this hall or that hall” literally nothing…. And on top of that, the girl at the register beside us had a guy hanging out at the counter & cussing… in front of my children & while on the clock… like what kind of mess is that? You’re there to serve your customers & the least I deserve after driving this far & spending 70 plus dollars is a simple “hey and have a nice day”… simple communication skills that all these young kids LACK BIG TIME!!!!! Common decency, curiosity & respect! I also had to ask a lady where to the bathrooms were and she spoke NO words… she literally just pointed, with the most expressionless face. I quite literally don’t understand it. Zero customer service skills! It’s so sad. And unfortunately I seen no manager on the clock to speak with. So I’m writing this! I will absolutely NOT be...
