As a long-time fan of ETang, I have always been impressed by the exceptional quality and freshness of their dishes, especially the soup dumplings at their Savannah location on Oglethorpe Street. I have often recommended this location to friends and family, and we have enjoyed many delightful meals there.
Naturally, I was thrilled to hear about the opening of a new ETang location in Pooler, GA. However, after visiting the Pooler location on three separate occasions, I must express my disappointment. Each visit left me hoping for the same outstanding experience we have come to expect from the Savannah location, but unfortunately, it fell short each time.
The soup dumplings at the Pooler location do not seem to match the quality and freshness of those at the Savannah location. While I have seen the dumplings being made fresh in Savannah, there is no indication of this practice in Pooler. This has led me to wonder if the dumplings in Pooler are frozen and shipped from downtown, resulting in a noticeable difference in taste and texture.
Additionally, the overall food quality at the Pooler location appears to be lacking in other areas as well. This inconsistency is disappointing, especially considering the high standards set by the Savannah location.
While I remain a loyal fan of ETang and will continue to visit the Savannah location, I cannot recommend the Pooler location based on my experiences. I hope that ETang addresses these issues to ensure that all their locations maintain the same level...
Read moreThis location is dreadful! Smaller portions than other locations , to start with. But, the service is the worstpart.
I ordered a Thai tea and the string bean dinner. I don't know why, something was off with the Thai tea. I've had it many times at other restaurants, so I know that it is not the typical taste. The server never came to check on me after I got my food, and he wasn't the one who delivered the food so I didn't get a chance to explain that I didn't want the beverage till he brought the check. I only drank two sips, the cup was still almost full. When my bill came, I explained the situation to the server and asked him to remove the drink. He tried to refuse, implying I should still pay for it because it's not their fault I didn't like it. I said well let me speak to your manager and held on to my card. The manager went ahead and removed the drink, but the server certainly was rude to me. If it were a matter of taste preference, I might be less irritated by the fact that they wanted me to pay for something that I did not like or drink. But, the drink actually tasted odd so I'm even more irritated. Pooler has other awesome Chinese restaurants that are better than this.
The downtown location is awesome, especially the one in the plaza on Oglethorpe. I order the same exact thing, and the portions at the Pooler location are smaller. I'm taking a screenshot of this review with a date because I cannot find the one I'd...
Read moreExcellent lunchtime experience with my wife, teenage grandson and out of town guests + an un-tried Asian restaurant recently reopened where a short lived seafood place once resided=an unbelievable "home run" in food variety, style, cleanliness and ambiance! (Etang deserves every accolade!!)
At lunch, don't expect a 'Cheap-side' page of fast food type items, cheap. Instead, there is a wide variety of well thought out small plates, and full-size offerings. Small plates are about $9 per, and full plates are about $17-19. each.
The big thing to understand is that all of the plates were shareable.
While we each ordered items that caught our individual tastes, when shared on the big "lazy Susan" in the center of our table we all enjoyed the shared experience and had great food and a wonderful experience.
The manager's name was Felix, and the service was on point without being intrusive.
Recommend: orange peel chicken, fried pan dumplings, edamame, any of the bun offerings (shown is the pork belly bun) and more.
With the volume and varieties of items enjoyed we left very happy, and with incredible flavors dancing in our mouths for about $15 per person including tip, and one order of Sake.
Very easy to find,...
