Islander Souvenirs — Local services in Port Aransas

Excellent service... Vacationing here with my family, and we shopped for a while, chatted with the cashiers and got to know them a little, discovered they were 2nd generation owners of the shop. Visited almost an hour, talked about the area, the weather, the hurricane, how business was going after the hurricane, just about everything, felt like the shop was all to ourselves, looked at my watch and realized it was almost 8pm, i asked them what time they closed, and they said 7! I was so embarrassed 😳. They were extremely kind, let us try on necklaces and casually shop their place for a whole hour after they closed! Never once alluding to being closed, or that they needed to get going, or make our final selections.

First class service too! Helped us box some items for our travels home even after discovering we were keeping them after hours another 10-15 minutes (yep 75 minutes later). Extremely courteous and patient with me and my family of 5. We only purchased a couple hundred dollars of minor souvenirs, but they treated us like we were buying a car on the last day of the month. Great peeps 👍 👏

I typically visit port A more than a few times a year. I have to say thought that if you are looking for a good souvenir shop DO NOT COME HERE. My experience had to do with a sloppy extremely rude employee that works at this place. He is an overweight blonde guy that was very pushy and not very professional at all. He did not offer any assistance to my wife either when she was looking to purchase an item in their display case so the Islander basically lost out on additional sales. He was just trying to get us out of the store. ...but wait there's more!

Not only was he rude but he also charged my card and then decided to card me AFTER he ran my card. He decided that my signature didn't look like the one on the back of the card. What a buffoon.

I hope the Manager or owner reads this because if you are trying to do some type of fraud prevention you need to card someone before you run the card not afterwards.

In addition to this, I also noticed when we got home that he did not charge us for an item as well. So this means he Lost a sale form the jewelry display case and he is carelessly giving away free items unknowingly to the public. I would return it but I live over 3 hours away. Too...

The stuff they have inside is awesome and they have a plethora of items to choose from, so anything you need, they have it. When we went yesterday, there was a girl outside offering pictures with parrots, and that was a fun experience. I went back today to get a few things i had waited on just in case i could find a better price (i couldn’t, so that says a lot about the pricing of this store), and got there about ten minutes before they opened. I parked and was looking up where to find coffee for breakfast, and an older white lady with short white hair came out and screamed at me saying they weren’t open yet and i had to wait until 9 am. I wasn’t trying to go inside, just sitting on the golf cart and on my phone. Yesterday, everybody was nice and friendly and helpful, but this lady definitely put a sour taste in my mouth, so much that i’m debating whether or not i want to go back after breakfast, because she was extremely rude. Clearly this has been an ongoing issue, based on how many other reviews are talking about this same person.
