My wife and I spent 5 days in Port Isabel and stayed at the Park Center RV Park in our Motorhome. We arrived later than expected and Viola was kind enough to call us on the road to give us the gate code to get in after hours. The Park Center is a large facility with the majority of residents being full -timers. The full hookup worked fine although the connections were pretty well worn and I has to run to Wal Mart to pick up an adapter for the electrical plug in. Water pressure was fine. One of the park Center employees set up the sewer (black water) connector and use tape to make sure there were no exotic smells escaping from the connection. The bathroom showers/toilets are passable but could definitely use an upgrade to get the lighting and plumbing into the 21st century. The main office is new and spacious. The Laundry is excellent with all new equipment. The rec room is new and beautiful and comfortable inside.,The only problem is that it is only open during business hours. If you want to watch a movie, read a book, do a puzzle or just chew the fat with your friends in air conditioned comfort, you have to get it done before 5 p.m. Mon-Sat and Sunday its closed. Too bad. I was looking forward to watching the movie channel with my wife and I wasn't thinking of a matinee. The pool is huge and clean as is the dressing area. Great for kids. They also have a basketball court which is in good shape. Its also fun just to walk around the park and watch the shrimp boats going in and out. The waterfront is right there, next to the park. The Price was reasonable too. The location is perfect with Port Isabel WalMart & HEB nearby for supplies and the sights of Port Isabel and South Padre just a few...
Read moreKudos to the park for having a policy in place to ensure that only registered residents/renters use the amenities. However, being constantly questioned about our pool bracelets is intrusive and uncomfortable. I am giving this RV park a one-star rating due to ongoing negative experiences at the pool area. During our stay, we were repeatedly approached and questioned by an individual, a Karen—who is not employed by the park—regarding our pool bracelets. This occurred multiple times, often on the same day or across different visits, creating an uncomfortable and unwelcoming atmosphere for our family.
This is our first time renting at this RV park, and unfortunately, it will likely be our last due to unwelcoming atmosphere created by the Karen. Each weekend, we experience repeated interruptions from this person, who frequently questions our children about their bracelets—even when they are visibly wearing them as well as ourselves. Her behavior is intrusive and has significantly diminished our enjoyment of the amenities.
It appears this individual may be attempting to reserve the poolside seating area near the bar for private gatherings on the weekends particularly Saturdays. We hope the park management will consider addressing this issue to ensure a more respectful and inclusive environment for all...
Read moreMy wife and I spent the months of December through March on site E-19. I've given this park an excellent rating based on excellent management and great amenities. Amenities include a beautiful pool, a new recreation hall, complete with a modern kitchen,library/lounge and a pool room with new pool tables. Also there is a lighted fishing dock with fish cleaning stations complete with water and power. If you travel with a boat there are boat slips that can be rented by the month. There is also a dedicated kayak launch which is a huge plus for me. Kayak fishermen, such as myself can put their yak in the water and paddle out to the Laguna Madre and enjoy a world class fishery. The laundromat in the park is state of the art, with plenty of machines. The park rules are simple and are enforced to the benefit of all guests. This park is a great place to stay for seniors as well as young folks with small children. The activity director works hard to provide interesting activities for all of the guests. The entire staff at this park is very friendly and welcoming. Port Isabel is a beautiful little village full of friendly people and some of the best family owned restaurants you will find anywhere. Park Center is about a 10 minute drive to South Padre Island with it's beautiful beaches and abundant surf fishing...
