⭐ One star for the salsa, and that’s being generous.

Look, I try to support local spots, especially ones with a name like Mexiquito—sounds like a little flavor fiesta, right? Wrong. It was more like a flavor siesta… because we had plenty of time to nap during the wait.

We walked in, party of two. You’d think we were a table of twelve with how long it took to be served. I swear I saw a table sit down, age five years, and get a senior discount before anyone noticed we existed.

Now let’s talk coffee. My cup had been emptier than a politician's promise for thirty minutes. When the waitress finally popped over and asked if I needed more, I hit her with a quick “yes please!” like it was a coffee emergency (which it was). She nodded, disappeared into the land of broken dreams, and never came back.

But here’s the kicker: another waitress strutted around the restaurant like the Coffee Fairy, offering fresh refills to every. single. table. except ours. I watched her skip us like we were on the do-not-serve list. I even tried waving my cup like I was flagging down a rescue helicopter. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

And the cleanliness? Oh boy. Tables were being “cleaned” with a yellow towel that looked like it had been through three pandemics and a small kitchen fire. No disinfectant. Just a greasy little smear and a prayer.

So if you're into long waits, forgotten caffeine, and bacterial roulette—Mexiquito is your spot! Otherwise, maybe hit a gas station microwave burrito. It’s faster, hotter, and probably comes with...

If i could give 0 stars i would of Worst Service ever Older lady Whose name is Angie was so rude and disrespectful i could not believe it. We came in with a group of 22 people and she did not want to seat us because out tanle was too big and she needed those tables for other customers i was like ok we will just take to go to make it easier on the staff considering we had such a big group we knew it would be difficult and even at that she kept talking to us mean and like we were dumb. She said you see this here (it was like a pizza pan) this is how big the tortillas are and was talking to us like we were dumb even after i told her ok thank you like 10 times she kept repeating herself to us. I hate to pull the race card cause im not that person and im not gonna go into detail but she kept looking at part of out party and continued to be ugly to us. We waited over 30 min and she still did not take our order but continued to take other poeple seat them and take them their drinks. Like are you kidding me !!! 😡i tried to complain to another lady who was taking the payments but again here comes Ms Angie trying to be ugly and in my face. I told her you lost a table of 22 people who fyi tip big cause we do!!. When she started to be ugly "Again" i told her im done and im leaving and i walked out before things could escalate any further. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE RUDE WAITRESS NAMED ANGIE MADE...

giving this place 3 out of 5 stars because the food was actually pretty great but the service was definitely a horrible experience. it took everything in me not to raise h e l l in there just for the sheer fact that I was with my family. as soon as we walked in, we saw there was a significant amount of people, then another family walked in right after us.. there were no signs ANYWHERE that stated we needed to wait to be seated and after looking around for a good minute or 2, no one came to us to greet us or anything and while we realized no one was coming to us and it being our first time there, we figured we would sit ourselves in the ONE AVAILABLE table that there was even though it wasn't cleaned because the family that came AFTER us also was going to try and sit there but we beat them to it. Next thing we know, the waitress comes over with an ugly attitude and told us that we needed to wait to be seated and so I told her if that's the case then someone at the front needs to say that or put up a sign that states that but until then, too bad we were already seated. after that she barely checked in on us and took a while to take our order, get our refills, etc. never again. I will say however, the food was delicious and good for the price! they have some excellent cooks 🔥 unfortunately the servers...

The morning leaving after a week at SPI [saturday of Memorial day weekend], we tried going to that breakfast spot on the island. You all know it. It was packed at 9:15a, so we got back in the car and headed over the QI bridge into Port Isabel where we happened to see the Mexiquito restaurant open for breakfast. Sign on door indicated patrons needed masks on to enter but that was not stringently observed. Table service. The breakfast was just what we had in mind. My bisquits with sausage gravy was a plateful with light scratch bisquits and creamy sausage gravy perfectly seasoned. The best ever. A side of bacon and coffee and I'm ready for the long drive home. My better half had the migas that included refried beans and shredded potato frits. So much food on each plate we packed it to take home. It is great to find another great breakfast place in the area, so next year we'll be parking ourselves here for mornings out.
