Dairy Queen — Restaurant in Port Isabel

Review is for Port Isabel, Texas Dairy Queen: At around noon on May 27, 2022 ordered my standard #1 Burger with ONLY MAYO - No cheese, no veggies, no other condiments. Checked my burger in the parking lot and found cheese! Went back through the drive-thru and encountered the same young lady at the window who'd served my bagged burger not more than two minutes earlier. I explained what was wrong, she took the burger, closed the window. A few seconds later, she opened the window and said, "I heard you say you wanted cheese!" I explained that wasn't what I'd said. She rolled her eyes at me and closed the window again. When she opened the window again and shoved a paper sack containing the replacement burger - I happened to notice that she was chewing food (!!!) As a former Dairy Queen franchisee, having previously owned two DQs, I would've fired her on the spot if she'd been on my payroll! I love Diary Queen and I hate to see them going down. They have an almost cult following among fast-food lovers here in Texas, but sadly they're disappearing. Let's hope the franchise owner and/or manager of the South Padre Island DQ will at least speak to the employees present at the date and time mentioned above to ensure this sort of behavior is not repeated. For the record, I was in South Padre for a few days vacation -- probably out-of-town tourists, I'm guessing, make up a large percentage of this particular DQ location's consumer traffic. If situations like this aren't fixed . . . well, tourists are going to go to that "other burger place" - namely Whataburger - which, in many markets, has captured DQ's former...

Disgusting location.. I ordered an ice cream cone, and it was handed to the cashier who was handling money and credit cards he then struggled, trying to get napkins, which was touching all over it.. NASTY..! I asked for a refund, and he asked why. I told him what I just watched him do he then he asked what hand he touched it with.. like tf you mean so I have him a play by play of what he just went through with the napkins and he looked down out the hand i was pointing at closer the window and proceeds to tell the manager. He then asked if I would like another one. I said no thanks, and I'll just take a refund he got upset, closed the window, walked off to go get his register keys, i guys, and began to refund the order. Since I was a little, my Dad would bring us to this DQ in Port Isabel!! It is as delicious as I remember. A hunger buster with cheese meal and how can you not have a dip cone or a blizzard. Well if you still have room for ice cream, what am I saying?! There is ALWAYs room for ice cream!! You can sit outside and enjoy the breeze as you talk about the amazing shells found on the sea shore. Yesterday was a bit cold, I will admit it but hey I had a smile fron ear to ear listening to my son chatting away about having so much fun. Oh and my hubby, well he was quietly eating away his dip cone, slowly just looking at us and smiling. Wow ! New Year's eve at DQ at Port Isabel in the afternoon...
