Harbor Freight — Local services in Portage

I really try not to blast places like these because they are so relevant to people like myself who work in the auto/diesel industrial field. However, this is the second time in this specific location that an employee has devalued the shopping experience that I have witnessed. The first time was with a different person asking about "gas tanks" and her level of sarcasm was above the "joking" threshold. In my case, I visited this location in search of 3 shelving units for my garage considering I already purchased 2 recently , I knew where to go and grab them to be in and out. Now, I did walk in just after 7:10 knowing they close at 8:00. In any event, this specific employee was mopping the floors and just finished mopping the isle that I needed to walk in. So I paused and got her attention because I have way more respect then to just walk on the floor that someone had just mopped without getting there okay first. To which I was met with sarcasm and comments such as "oh, look my heart didn't stop, it's not the end of the world, I'm still breathing, etc...." comments along those lines... To which i said that I was just trying to be nice ... I was met with more comments... Then I said you know I can appreciate your level of sarcasm but I was trying to be respectful... To which she respond very sarcastically along the lines of "oh well I'm soo soo sorry" ... At this point I simply said have a nice day ma'am and walked out. Not a good look...

Harbor Freight is a great place to grab that tool you use often enough that you need to buy it but seldom enough that you're not looking for the top of the line.

That said, the staff deserves this review. They were in credibly helpful when I stopped in after work. I needed 3 random things and could not find any of them. Everyone I encountered was gracious and jumped in to help me find whatever I needed while also being knowledgeable about the items purpose and features. There's no way you're finding that these days at a Home Depot or Lowes where the first thing they do is try to search the item on their app because they do not know where anything is in their big box store. Even the cashier at Harbor Freight knew where a propane refill adapter was in the store to let me refill camp stove propane bottles! A much more pleasant experience than at "those...

Simply AMAZING!!! Not only is everyone here friendly, helpful (sometime overly compulsive) and honest, they strive to make your shopping experience as easy, carefree and enjoyable as possible. The only thing they could do better is be more forthcoming with their coupons and membership tags. On rare occasions they miss discounts so you should still double check, but a software update to thier registers could help them if corporate really wants to. This store particular is my favorite.
