Portage Cab Company — Local services in Portage

Gave one star because none is not an option. My daughter had karate practice at 530pm tonight. I live right off of slifer/airport. I knew I wasn't going to make it in time to take her. Called Portage Taxi at 5:05pm to see if they could pick her up and drop her off about 1 mile from the house. They said they were on their way and gave a time of 5:20pm as an estimated pick up time. As I drive past the park on Slifer, I see a taxi parked. I pull up to the house at 5:40pm. My husband tells me that she didn't make it to practice because they never showed up and my daughter had been standing outside for twenty minutes cash in hand to be taken a few blocks away. Okay so here's a few things you'll wanna know before calling a cab:

1. They are a 24 hour business
2. Call ahead of time, Cabs are usually busy here so they can take anywhere from 15-30mins to arrive
3. Be prepared to share, often times there's more riders than cabs themselves so if it's just you calling for a ride, you'll probably share a taxi with another passenger.
4. They DO have handicap accessible cabs, just ask for one when calling for them
5. Cheap prices, especially for students, $3.75 for a one way ride to anywhere in town if you're a student

The inconvenience this company puts their clients thru is horrible. The fact that they have no POS machine to except credit or debit card is bad enough but the unprofessionalism that they displayed by leaving their client stranded is beyond my understanding. I scheduled a pick up for 3 AM today and no one showed up and to make matters worse they did not alert me that they weren’t going to pick them up because the company closed down early due to some problems. This is ridiculous! It was so frustrating to have to wake up family members to go pick them up in the middle of the night when they themselves have to be up at the break of dawn...
