Crown Paella — Local services in Portland

Crown Paella catered our wedding, and it was an all-around amazing experience. I highly recommend CP!

The paella itself is a tasty and notable experience that will make your event more memorable. On top of that, the salad, bread, and hor d'oeuvres are all delicious. Paella scales really well to very large parties. Folks with experience ordering catering for 100+ people probably expect dry chicken or lukewarm beef; paella suffers from none of these issues. Paella is also easy to flex around most dietary restrictions. (Always gluten free, easy vegan options, almost all common allergy foods are not in it, or easily omitted.) CP is super flexible and you can make changes even just a few days before the event itself.

Additionally, Emily was great to work with. She is incredibly capable at handling complex events, and she really went above and beyond. She had a consultation meeting with me to make sure the specialty cocktails at our wedding were exactly what I want: she took vague words ("crisp, refreshing, something like snap peas, probably some citrus, but not too much. definitely not too sweet. just like balanced, you know? probably vodka???") and somehow made a cocktail that was exactly what I wanted. (The cocktail was a huge hit and everyone was raving about how great they were.) We lost our wedding venue a little over a month prior to the event, and she helped a ton in the scramble to find a replacement venue. She helped handle all the rentals and coordinated it with the venue to streamline the whole experience for us.

Overall, the whole experience of working with CP was great: they were extremely helpful in a stressful "we-just-lost-our-venue" scramble in the weeks before, and, night of, everything went really smoothly. They helped make our wedding night perfect.

Emily is incredibly capable and one of the most competent caterer, coordinator, all-around-everything-related-to-big-events person I've met. She's a little hard to reach several months before your event, but close to your event, she'll handle everything with aplomb and it will all go really,...

AVOID THIS PLACE.

By far the worst when it comes to communication. Pre-pandemic, we had to sometimes email Emily 2-3 times before getting a response weeks later.

When we said we had to reschedule our wedding due to the COVID pandemic, they said that was fine and would send us an updated contract later...which we never got. Mind you, we even CONFIRMED the date for this year last August. We hadn't heard from them since then so we sent them an email yesterday to re-confirm the date...and their response?

"Thank you for the message! At this point we are just operating at outdoor venues, and because of our smaller staff size we actually can’t add any additional weddings to our roster for the summer or fall. It has been such a pleasure communicating with you two throughout your planning though–wishing you all of our best for a beautiful celebration!"

We get that they're choosing to do only outdoor venues right now. But to send us such a generic email and to call our event "any additional weddings" despite confirming the date LAST YEAR is so rude. They didn't even bother saying "sorry". This just goes to show how it's so important to sign contracts...but honestly, we asked so many times for it and they never sent us anything.

We heard their food was awesome but we wouldn't know. We don't know why our venue had them as a "preferred caterer" when they're horrible at communication and are so...

If you're looking for a unique, visually stunning, and most importantly, an unforgettably delicious meal for your wedding, look no further than Crown Paella. it's been a month since our wedding and we still get compliments on how amazing the food and drinks were! When the huge paella plates were carried in you can feel the excitement from our guests. We got the Crown Royale and the Verdura paellas, a seasonal salad, bread, and some tapas. Everything was delicious. My husband and I also convinced the cocktails might be the best cocktails we've ever had, period! Emily and her team not only served us amazing food and drinks- they also handled most of our rentals from tables to linens to coat racks. During our 11 month wedding planning process Emily took care of any questions or requests that I sprung on her, making sure all the details were taken care of. They also had a huge part in making sure the event itself went off without a hitch- Emily even organized our sparkler exit at the end of the night! You might find it a little hard to get in touch with them at the beginning- I was relentless in calling and emailing to make sure I can book them- but Crown Paella is beyond worth it. I find myself thinking of parties I can throw just to have an excuse to...
