Donât let the manager, who is obviously not a fan of the life that shes made for herself, deter you from finding an amazing deal on upscale clothing/accessories that might otherwise be out of your budget. Other then the manager, the staff are especially nice and helpful, almost as if their acutely aware (how could they not be) and have almost certainly themselves been the focus of her special brand of managerial expertise and witnessed first hand her less then steller customer service skills and want to make up for it. It seems as if the rest of the employees are, thankfully, a direct parallel to the manager. As far as the clothing/accessories offered here, I would say their offerings are geared towards the 16-35 demographic. Mostly major brands, 'fast fashion', mixed in with some vintage. Including: streetwear (stussy, Palace, The Hundreds, Obey etc.), athletic (Nike, Adidas, Puma, Champion etc.) skateboarding/snowboarding brands (Primitive, Van's, Burton, Nike sb, Grizzley, Volcom etc.) Also you'll find more conservative brands (Abercrombie, American Eagle, Armani Exchange, Gap, Levi) they also offer vintage clothing that brands and style vary on each piece. Also, available are accessories that usually include a wide selection of hats and beanies, belts, bags, purses, wallets, back packs, messenger bags, sunglasses, scarves, also a small section of jewelry and trinkets such as pins and buttons, stickers, patches etc. Their buying experience is laid back and a quick run down of it would be, they take all the clothing you bring in that your hoping to sell, while they let you know what their looking for and what condition they want the clothing to be in that would be interested in purchasing. Then they tell you that your free to look around the store and wait or they can take your phone number and notify you when they are done going through your items. When their done they return the clothing to you they decided they weren't interested in, sometimes with a short explanation on why they passed on them and then they inform you on how much they would like to offer you on the items they did want to purchase, the break down is they give you 30% of what they are going to list your items for in their store. Or they give you the option of turning that money into in store credit with the incentive for doing so being receiving instead 40% of their listing price for your items in credit instead of the 30% you'd receive in cash. You must have valid ID to complete this process. All in all I'd say if your younger or youngish and on a budget or would simply like to get alot more for your money regardless of how much of it you have to spend, and you like the wide selection of clothing offered here, you can make your dollar stretch alot further by stopping here to see if you can find a great deal on something you'd purchase for alot more else where or to find something to compliment your existing wardrobe at affordable prices. Most of the clothing here is in EUC or even New with or without tags. The shoes selection stands out with a good selection of new or almost new shoes, alot of times you can find sample shoes, hard to find exclusives especially in athletic shoes, you'll routinely find Jordan retros, KDs, Lebrons, Air Maxes, NMDs, Stan Smith etc. that are sometimes priced 3 or 4 times below their retail prices. I know this was long winded but hopefully it helps someone find a great deal and gives them an alternative to paying full price at the mall or another retail chain. As well as giving them a way to get things they want while having the money they spend go to support a local business. Get the same clothes as those stores, or alot of times better,...
Read moreI really should have paid better attention in my previous visits & purchases to this store.
I was a new customer & was unaware this store isnât a locally owned business. In any case, I have found a few items in the past & didnât realize there was a surcharge. Iâve browsed this store several times & never noticed any postings in the store, so they are not* obvious, especially in a chaotic/busy place. In any case, I went to purchase a pr of pants & just became aware at that time.
I asked & the associate told me. At the time, I didnât recall a surcharge on my previous purchases. Another associate rudely interjected & said that it was 4% during COVID (btw, COVIDâs still a thing, but I digress). So let men get this straight. A store is charging customers to shop in their stores? Like a required tip that doesnât go to associates? Or like a sales tax in a state (OR) that doesnât have a sales tax? Cover charge based on purchases? And letâs not kid ourselves here, Crossroads Trading is NOT a thrift store, itâs a secondhand, clothing reseller, & consignment shop. Two very different things. Their prices are certainly not thrift, but they arenât super overpriced either. They told me the surcharge is to help keep them in business. If you need to charge your customers to shop in your business, then youâre not doing good business. I almost bought the pants anyway, but the associate didnât get my CC charged & Iâd already put it away. In the end I chose to walk out & wonât be returning. Just another business gouging customers. Wish Iâd read the reviews before shopping, but I came across this store on a walk through my neighborhood. Off to the Buffalo Exchange I go. Better selection. Better prices. No surcharge.
PS. I do realize the associates work hard & have no issues with any employees. They observably do their best to greet & assist...
Read moreIâm a Portland native and used to live on 23rd, working in styling and photo shootsâi I discovered this shop over the past year, and I tell everyone about it. I absolutely love their selection. I always find something for whatever project Iâm working on.
But more than that, whoever leads this store deserves a public shoutout. Iâve been a hiring manager for 25 years, and I know how much the small details add up to the bigger picture. The team here is consistently friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind to each other and customers alike. You can feel they actually enjoy being hereârare these days.
I sometimes stop by with my family or on dog walks. (Pro tip: grab a slice from Escape from New York Pizza down the street and if you wait by the window they will toss your pup a little chunk of cheese! itâs a good time.)
You donât really notice whoâs âin chargeâ here because everyone works seamlessly together. Thatâs the kind of culture you canât fake. Huge thanks to the whole team for keeping things running smoothly and curating such a fun, thoughtful mix for those of us who love shopping secondhand.
For anyone commenting on pricingâtrust me, pricing used clothes is wild. Itâs a bit like crypto: one day somethingâs flying off the racks, the next day itâs not. Remember, this is a thrift store. People come here for deals. What you paid for your item new might matter to you, but resale is a...
