Dutch Bros Coffee — Restaurant in Portland

My daughter went in to get drinks and didn’t tip because she only had enough money for the drinks. She came back to car upset and almost crying because the entire staff started talking crap about her and shaming her for not tipping on 4 drinks. Every tip etiquette video I’ve ever seen states ‘tips should be appreciated and not expected, this type of behavior is not acceptable. I’m so sick of tipping entitlement culture where everyone feels personally robbed when they don’t get a tip for simply doing their job. This type of behavior makes me never want to order drinks here again. Is my business that keeps this staff employed not good enough?. People don’t always have extra for a tip, they should not be shamed or made to feel their business is not wanted. People with this attitude don’t deserve tips. It’s not the customers responsibility to pay the wages of the staff . Tips should not be expected. U get the full minimum wage, be grateful u have a job and every penny of generosity you receive, don’t be mad for every penny you don’t get as if the customers have stolen your money! I won’t be returning to this location and u can definitely count on not ever receiving a tip from me. I totally support tipping when I have extra money but I’m not going take the bus instead of buying gas for my so horrible people that make young girls cry can get some extra money for...

They got one of the items on my order wrong. Instead of a small hot coffee they made me an ice coffee. No big deal, but when told that it was wrong instead of just pouring a small hot coffee so I could be on my way, the girl who was apparently offended that I told her the order was wrong decided to clear the whole line up before taking the 2 seconds it took to pour my coffee. Not only did she clear the whole line first but decide to help out a dog who was inside this food establishment. The dog got to put her paws up on the counter where they hand out food orders to people and eat whipped cream out of a cup before I could get my 1 cup of coffee. So I quite literally got treated worse than a dog at this location. The dog was cute. But that was an incredibly unsanitary and a completely unwarranted ridiculous reaction from the barista. Wish I could rescind my tip. Too bad cause I really like Dutch bros coffee. Maybe will never go to that...

I have come to this location several times since moving to the neighborhood a couple of months ago. I frequently will be there doing schoolwork. The staff are friendly and the coffee is great. Today though I was a bit surprised it was raining and it had taken my husband and I a bit longer to get home than expected. We were not sure of parking situation so I thought I would use the restroom really quick. I came running in the door and with a look on my face probably expressing I need to go was told with little empathy that the restrooms were for customers only. This totally caught me by surprise as I have witnessed other patrons use the WiFi, electrical outlet, and restroom without purchasing something.
