I recently bought my first pair of Dr Martens about two weeks ago, I loved them. But the size was too small so I was going to exchange them for a size larger.
Then I met David at the front desk. David took out my pair of rose boots and told me how torn up and scuffed up they were, and that there was absolutely no way we took take them back...... I literally wore them twice. Inside.....
So basically if you buy a pair of Dr Martens make sure you love them. Because you’ll never be able to return them. Awesome.
Not only that. David was the absolutely most unfriendly and uncaring person I’ve met in that store. Everyone one there was so nice and caring.
The blonde girl with the blue and pink tattoos was the reason I bought these shoes in the first place. She really sold me on them. But this dude absolutely did not care a single bit at all....
This dude David was so horrible to talk to that Im finding myself writing a paragraph review on him...
David did not care at all that this was my first pair of shoes. He didn’t want to help me at all. I don’t think he even listened to what I said. This dude just said, you wore them, “and unlike Nordstroms we don’t take these back.” Which begs the question.
Why didn’t I just buy a pair of boots a Nordstrom’s then?
Everyone told me how great and durable these shoes were. So I bought my favorite ones. And spent a hell of a lot of money on them. I really wanted to buy the cherry vegan leather back pack while I was there as well.
I just hope if I go back that dude is not working.
Also I guess if I don’t like it I’ll never be able to return anything from Dr Martens? So why buy Dr Martens in the first place?
So now I am stuck with a pair of shoes that are too small, and my experience buying from one of Portland’s favorite brands went........
Read moreI never really write reviews but I had to for a specific employee at the Burnside location. Her name is ALISON (hopefully I spelled her name correctly). By far she is one of the best sales people I have ever experienced in my life. I know it’s just a shoe store and not that big of a deal buying but she made it a wonderful experience. Most importantly she is personable. I had so much fun in that store. She created connection which is so so rare. Sincere!!!!
I have returned because my experience with her. I mean I love the shoes. Love them. But I am now a lifetime customer because of her. I wish all stores had employees like that! Alison, if you ever read this, thank you. You will be successful in anything you do!!!
Sometimes I get a little frustrated with getting help with shoes. I know what I like. I know what fits me best and how they should feel. Not only was Alison knowledgeable, she gained my trust almost immediately. She let me try on the size I thought fit me, then kindly made a suggestion of a size that might work better only if I wanted to try it out. She explained why that size worked better for the style, walked me through how it should feel and was so patient with me even when she had lots of customers. I never think sales people will suggest a different style I actually like. Holy cow she has awesome taste. She brought out styles she thought I would like and I ended up buying a few pairs because magically, they were boots I have always wanted but...
Read moreI live pretty far away, and I bought some docs here a while ago. I took a special trip to get my 4th pair of Docs. I let whoever was there upsell me on a different style, they're really cute.
They started tearing a few months ago though because apparently I was using too much wonder balm. That's on me, that's fine. Really sucky I wasted money on shoes that won't last as long now, great. Awesome. Fantastic.
But when I called before coming down, I told them what I was doing and the problem, how they looked, and they told me to come on down and they could help get me a different pair if the wear wasn't too bad. It wasn't. I show up and say the same thing, and then I'm told they can't help because it was my mistake.
I'm fine with the fact I made a mistake, it sucked but okay. I'm mad I drove more than 45 minutes after working all day to come down in the middle of rush hour traffic, only to be told they can't help me at all.
I don't know why I thought this was worth it or to trust whoever was working on the phone, but next time I guess I'll go somewhere else or pray that my money isn't wasted on shoes that won't last because of crap advice.
Answer questions accurately please. Or say it depends on literally anything else before people make the trip to go there. Our gas tanks and wallets can't handle it in this economy, especially with the already expensive shoes....
