I am forever changed by this shaved ice experience.
My mom and I went, it’s down a walk way between to buildings, like a cute little shopping strip. When you walk up, you scan a QR Code and order it online. They will then call your name when it’s ready. There are some benches around in the shopping strip but there were quite a few people waiting to get shaved ice so a lot of seated spots were taken.
Onto the shaved ice! We got “Hello Summer”, a Strawberry Lemonade based one with strawberry purée and fresh strawberry. That one also had its proceeds going to an 8th grade boys team for some sport. It was SO GOOD. I grew up getting traditional shaved ice from trucks in Austin. The kind where you can still feel it’s ice kind of. And sometimes you can just suck all the syrup out of the ice and you’re left with flavorless ice again. YEAH NO, this place is shaved ice but with the consistency of like…cold cotton candy. So airy and soft but holds so much flavor that it feels like airy ice cream. They did such a good job combing in flavors and sweetness. I will be back here again. I cannot eat shaved ice...
Read moreI walked 2 miles to get here only to be told that they do not accept any form of payment I couldn't pay with cash I could not tap with my phone and I could not pay with a debit or credit card the only form of payment was accepted through the internet with an online order which was totally fine but when I asked for the Wi-Fi information I was told that the building has no Wi-Fi or Internet access and that the only way to order food would be to walk all the way across the building exit the promenade and go up the street where service was better so that I could make my order walk back and pick it up
Zero Stars absolutely disgusting service I hope your shop fails you are the worst customer service representative I've ever dealt with and it's the worst business model I could have ever possibly imagined besides the fact that you have an animal running around in the preparation area getting hair on all...
Read moreMy daughter brought me here because she said this was the best shave ice she's had outside of Hawaii. She's a fan of the Almond Joy - and it's definitely tasty - but I tried the Wailua Sunrise (always try the namesake product, right?) and it was delicious.
The flavor (if you order with regular syrup) is there but it's not a in-your-face, high fructose corn syrup, diabetes-causing sweetness so if you're a sweets junkie, you might try ordering it with extra syrup. The toppings which were nice and fresh were presented delicately balanced on the bed of soft shave ice.
The location of the shop is excellent too. Being from Vegas, I'm used to super sized/oversized, glitzy/glammy shopping malls/centers. Wailua is literally in an alleyway that connects SW Oak and W Burnside Streets. Microstores line both sides of the alley - the whole place is cozy, beautiful, and full of...
