Tina did a 1 hour massage as a walk-in and it was nice. I paid cash and left a large tip, while knowing that she was the owner/operator. I called a month latter to schedule another 1 hour massage, and we booked a day and time. When I arrived, she looked at me as if she didn't know why I was there. I told her that I had an appointment, and she said that she could only do maybe a half hour because she had someone else coming in soon. I said OK, and I asked if she ever used a wooden scrapper when she does foot massage, that I had it done while I lived in Chongqing for a year, and it was wonderful. She said that she doesn't use one but that she would order one and use it since I asked about it. She told me to leave my name and phone number, that she would call me in about 3 weeks when you had gotten one, and we would reschedule a time when she calls. It is now 3 months later and still no word from Tina. There are too many good massage places in the Lloyd District to have to put up with this type of total disrespect and lack of service. She claims to be a retired nurse from Qingdao. I guess maybe they do things a little different in Chongqing.....but either way I will not be back as the massage was very general, and not best. Tina owner/operator of Glisan Foot Spa was nice, but the massage was not that good, and her lack of respect via poor scheduling and inability to follow-up and do what she says she will do: Horrible.
Update: Tina texted me last night at 9:00 and said that she read my review and wanted to apologize. While the gesture was nice, it would have been better had she not. Because somewhere in the back of my mind, I thought that MAYBE she had lost my name and...
Read moreI’ve gone to Glisan Spa regularly since the first time I visited over two years ago, and it’s hard to express what a positive impact it has had. First off, I’m able to call and set up a time to come in with short notice, usually the same day. As someone with chronic illness, it makes such a big difference to be able to come in at the right time. Then, I get a skilled and thorough massage. Even early on, Tina remembered my preferences and can always tailor the massage to address areas I want extra attention and the length of time I have. Migraines leave my scalp, neck, and shoulders so tight and Tina is always able to loosen things up. And last, the prices. I’ve had many more expensive massages that had much less impact. Her work is worth so much more to me than what she charges, but the low prices do allow me to come more frequently than I would otherwise. And then, of course there’s Tina. She has such a warm and friendly personality that makes the whole experience very comforting and relaxing. I can’t recommend this...
Read moreShe demanded a $20 tip while I was graciously leaving $10. No tip would have been appropriate but I didn’t want to be rude. Her demanding $20 was crazy. I’m a retired LMT now practicing physical therapy, STM, IASTM, as a PTA and based off of my years of experience her massage was basic. She didn’t have a good sense of touch, she has three modes: too soft, almost good, and too hard. It felt robotic and unintuitive. I’m 6’2” 180lbs so it’s not like my body is terribly difficult to work on either.
The atmosphere is quite dim so you can’t see how clean or dirty the place is, and it felt a bit grungy with musty smell. I wish I hadn’t of given this place a go, but it was near by. I left feeling about the same with...
