Dear Sandy is not just a place; it's an experience. Nestled in the heart of Portland, this half-coffee shop, half-bar gem is a journey back in time to the cozy living rooms of the 1970s. The moment you step through the door, you're enveloped in warmth, welcomed by the retro decor that feels like a comforting hug.

Whether you're catching up with an old friend, meeting a date for a memorable evening, or tackling a term paper, Dear Sandy has you covered. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between eclectic and inviting, making it a versatile spot for any occasion.

The staff here embodies the spirit of the place – friendly, welcoming, and passionate about what they do. They're more than just servers; they're curators of an atmosphere that makes you feel like a welcomed guest in someone's home.

Dear Sandy isn't just a coffee shop or a bar; it's a haven where time slows down, and you're encouraged to savor the moment. So, next time you're in Portland, take a step back in time at Dear Sandy – your taste buds and your senses will thank you.

PS. Make sure you visit the bathrooms.... yes, both bathrooms... you...

Dear Sandy is not just a bar, it's also a coffee shop and has a smaller but solid menu. It was hard to pick what I wanted but went with the charcuterie board. I did not regret my decision.

It has a bar top but is set up with big tables for groups, two-tops, couches making for a chiller, quieter space. People were there for a catch up, to study, work on craft projects, and meet up with a group of friends for a drink. It feels like you're at home. The decor is amazing too. Homey from the 60s 70s? And a projector playing weird movies but it's a good conversation starter or distraction if you need it. Definitely check out the bathrooms.

I don't drink but they have really good NA cocktails. And their drink menu is extensive. Plus they have coffee until they close (I'm pretty sure) if you want that too!

This is the perfect place for someone in sobriety (or not) to go to because it's not a real bar bar atmosphere but you're still getting out a socializing.

Oh and Katie was incredibly nice, accommodating, just...

Cute little cafe/bar with a great drink menu. If I lived in the neighborhood, this would be my go-to spot! Came here around 11am to get some work done. There are plugs at every sitting area, which is so helpful for not having to fight over the spot with the plug. Got an oat milk latte and the “egg” which was a delicious egg sandwich with mayo, egg, red onion, and some greens. Only complaint is the egg was basically over hard but my friend’s was perfectly over easy. The ambience is very retro and colorful. I can imagine also stopping by in the evening to catch up with friends or try a group date night with friends here. Solid staff too, they were so kind and offered to bring drinks to us since it wasn’t super busy. Parking wasn’t too hard to find but it’s mainly neighborhood road parking in a busy part of Sandy Blvd(near other...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ First time at this hidden gem, and I was pleasantly surprised. Dear Sandy delivers something special—mixing cozy café comfort with the energy of a low-key bar. The space was decked out for Halloween, adding just the right amount of spooky charm without overdoing it. Not to forget, the staff is patient with you as you will be with them. Warm and inviting to guests and will really take their time 1 on 1 before moving onto another customer. This level of hospitality and respect goes a long way! Inside, vintage furniture and funky light installations created a perfect balance of warmth and quirk. On this particular night, people were working, trading books, and sipping themed drinks. It felt like a space that encourages creativity and community—definitely worth a return visit. I’ll have to check it out during the day!
