Did Portland really need another yoga studio?
Yeah, it did.
Modo PDX. Our city is finally complete.
I’ve done yoga for over 20 years with countless teachers in several cities around the world. I was searching. Then, when I found Modo Yoga I felt like I’d found it.
But that’s esoteric talk, and specific to my experience. Let’s start with the fact that Modo Yoga offers a profound and powerful community. It begins here in Portland at Jen Reed’ studio and follows you around as you travel for work or pleasure to other Modo cities. I really feel like I’m part of something bigger than myself, and something really good.
Modo PDX has the most beautiful yoga studio in Portland (and I’ve showered in most of them!) It is clean, welcoming, and, most importantly, inspiring. Whereas other hot yoga is actually hot (and dour and smelly), Modo PDX is warm and cozy; it opens you.
Modo teachers seem to be more fully educated in the knowledge and practice of yoga than other teachers who studied the “how” of postures for a weekend or a couple of weeks. Modo teachers are trained for a year before they step in front of a class. They study anatomy. They understand the power of breath and consciousness. They teach the “how” of the postures but also the why, the intent, the meaning, the benefit, and the joy.
In my humble opinion, Jen Reed is the best yoga teacher in all of Portland. What you will learn from her does not equate to “I do yoga” but elevates to a higher plane of, “I am the best, fittest, most aware human I can be.”
All that for $40 unlimited for your first month. How can...
Read moreToday was such a special day for us. The teachers at Modo Yoga, Chelsey and Caitlin were so supportive, fun and open. My son spent time with Caitlin and practiced in her kids yoga class and I was able to enjoy a full on joyful and sweaty practice with Chelsey. Liam was hesitant if not resistant to trying a new class today. He was welcomed with such kind and respectful presence by Caitlin and told me that he definitely wants to come back again! Yay!!! He said afterwards that he felt really proud of himself :) my heart is overflowing with gratitude. Chelsey’s class was also spot on exactly what I needed and incorporated a wide spectrum of Hatha asanas both standing balance poses and seated postures. Her energy and presence was felt and deeply appreciated. She is a wonderful and knowledgeable teacher. It was such a good compliment to have kids yoga happening at the same time. I really feel like our family is supported in our health and mindfulness practices. We will keep coming...
Read moreHave 160+ classes under my belt at ModoYoga Portland. I’ve done yoga at other studios in the Seattle area as well and Modo is my favorite studio.
Highly recommend this studio for everyone. They have everything from beginning to advanced yoga.
Highlights: Reasonable price for monthly membership. Great classes and workshops. Instructors are personable and helpful. Facilities are clean, safe and respectful. They have towels, mats for rent Bike storage (limited) Great times (4, 5, 5:30 and 6:30 are my favs) In the summer they have yoga in the park once a week.
Tips: If you want different yoga classes go for the power flow series (it’s not limited to the modo routine) If you want a challenge go for either power flow 2 or the 75 minute modo flow class. If you want less intense/ intro try the yin & yang or the modo (different from the modo...
