Lets face it Mall's are a dying breed. Gone are the days teens and young adults spent endless hours "hanging out" at the mall. Mallrats are now a scarce breed as are the few stores that remain here. Its not fun shopping here. Its actually a mood killer. Even the few employees that are working at the stores hanging on look stressed, bored, or ambivalent. Many of the large anchor stores have left and quite a few of the smaller shops followed. The food court has a few vendors some recognizable, some not. Bottom line: It has a gorgeous interior layout with a gigantic stone fireplace that hosts Santa in December. Which is one of the few times you'll see families and kids flock to the mall. However the other 11months of the year the interior mall is reminiscent of a dying city soon to be a vacant ghost town. There are some great stand alone stores, and restaurants in the exterior of the mall worth shopping at, which is the only reason I have to even bother driving up to the Prescott Gateway Mall nowadays. Honestly the developers could easily turn this property into a great Outlet Mall like the shops at Anthem, which would draw quite a few people back, offer viable shopping options, and revitalize the mall. Yet it sits as is year after year. Heck they could even develop it into a "Work/ Live" community and remodel the massive space into condos with commercial vendors as well. The anchor stores remain, even though Sears is always empty. The malls seems to be 1/3rd empty. The shops that remain are generally not interesting or compelling.
