TLDR: Don't live here, noise from bedroom closet, cheap construction, overcharged utility bills due to meter reading issue.
Me and my wife moved to Ashlar Park in June 2024 and had a terrible experience here. We used to live in another Bozzuto managed property and had a great experience so we decided give this place a try, but turn out the construction of this property is cheap and awful even though it looks like luxury apartments from outside. Let me walk you through the issue we've exprienced past 9 months.
Noise from closet: This is a huge issue that bothers us. If you check other reviews, you will find at least 3 other people mentioning this. There is constant hum noise coming from the mechanical closet which is in the master bedroom. This noise is created by the motor of the exhaust fan system on the ceiling. It's 24/7 and extremely annoying during the night when things get quite. Me and my wife are not noise sensitive people and we can't even tolerate it.
We submitted our first service request for this noise issue 3 months ago and was told by maintenance team there was nothing they can do about this. After escalating this serveral times, they had the contractor come over and inspected it. Still, there is NOTHING they can do about it. During their serveral visits, they implied we're being sensitive and one of the regional manager refers it to "white noise" which he sometimes listen to to sleep with.
As the time goes on, it becomes more and more unbearable and we started to have some headaches in daytime. We also have a newborn so we're concerned about his hearing beacause of this. We asked his audiology doctor and doctor said this could damage his hearing and we have to all sleep in another small side bedroom for the past 3 months while we're paying for a 2-bedroom.
After 3 months of back and forth, we're tired of this and decided to move out early so we ask them to waive the early termination fee because it's not our issue. They refused and said because their team can barely hear it (although you can see several residents complaining it in the reivew) and there had been already cost occurred for the maintenance & inspections. (So they decided to get it back from us while it's the property's issue? ).
Updates: They put another layer of foam outside the ceiling panel and it doesn't help much. Apparently they know there has been serveral similar cases in the community but they're acting like we're the only one has this issue. During today’s conversation with leasing office, the regional manager of Bozzuto insulted us that we’re using this minor issue as a card so we can move out early without penalty. So we signed for a 18-month lease just to move out early I guess?
Overcharged utilities bills: From August 2024, we had received a couple water bills thats 3-4 times than our average bills so I contacted the leasing office (Almost $300 water/sewer bill for two people). They did a maintenance check and found no leaking or running toilet so I had to call Conservice to ask the reasons for the overcharge. Conservice told me there was some meter reading issue on my unit which causing the overcharged bills and told me it has already happened several times for the building I lived in since last year. Then I relayed Conservice's message to the leasing office and ask them to fix it for me.
It takes me 3 months/5 phone calls/ 4 Conservice calls/ 4 leasing office visit/over 30 emails to get them fix those bills and in the end I'm still paying more than my normal usage after the adjustments (I decided to not going further because it's too exhausting).
Checkout the video attached to see if you can tolerate the hum noise. Iphone recording can't really reflect the real sound we heard but can give you a sense of it.
For your and your family's sanity, I'd suggest you to stay away from here. There are plenty of good apartment complexs out there. If you insist to live here, pay attention to the closet noise when you doing the tour and I wish you good luck and don't have to experience the same...
Read moreI bought a brand new BMW and their towing company DAMAGED it right after I purchased it. First time in my life I bought a new BMW. I am devestated. They had it towed off their lot the same day I was going in to get a parking sticker for my vehicle. Now I am stuck with a damaged brand new BMW that will depreciate in value as a result. The vehicle hadn't even been driven 100 miles. I looked up reviews for the towing coming theu use and it is one of the worst. Other people write that their towing conpany damages people's car, rips them off, etc. Words cannot describe how upsetting this is. There was a very audible grinding/churning noise I could hear as they were driving my car toward toward the lot to return it to me. The towing company's owner even admitted that something had happened on their end from them towing the car. Also, within the past week or two the floor to the apartment was soaked because the tube was not properly connected to the washer. They literally told me to clean it all up myself. Within the past week I was woken way too early due to the smoke detector beeping frequently. We moved into a brand new unit less than a year ago and the batteries in the smoke detector are already dead? But most upsetting is my damaged brand new BMW that I could not drive away from the towing business due to safety. You have to be VERY wreckless with the towing process to cause the kind of damage they did. I am guessing they saw a brand new BMW and decided to rough it up???? I asked their towing agency why my car was made dirty and marked up on the inside and their towing company stated it was from them. It was in an area were you would have to be pretty inconsiderate to someone's vehicle for it to me marks there. They did agree to clean the marks but still, my brand new car was clearly roughend up. You have to really not care about people's cars to do this. I sent the apartment management evidence of other people writing reviews about the shady behavior of their towing company. Less than 100 miles were driven on my BMW. It was in perfect shape. Their towing company needlessly roughed up and damaged my brand-spanking new car.
Update: The parking lot is 100 percent full and I have been waiting for a long t8me for a spot to identify. Other cars are driving around looking for spots too. I am currently in an electric loner vehicle while my vehicle is still being repaired from the botched towing, and it could lose charge if I drive around to compete with the other cars in a lot that is 100 percent full. At the same time I can't park on the lawn or in an non-tradituonal space because the vehicle will get towed, and likely damaged. Not a g9od situation.
Also periodically woken up from a humming noise in the walls, and yes the other reviewers are correct about hearing noise coming from...
Read moreWe moved in early march into their newest building. Move in was very easy and smooth overall.
During our first week had an issue with a ceiling leak in our bedroom closet and called the emergency maintenance line in the morning. They responded right away and worked on the leak however our closet light wasn’t fixed until after the weekend. Communication between the main office and maintenance could improve as when I called the main office for an update around noon, they were unaware of the leak at all.
We called the main office on a Sunday during their open hours and left a voicemail with a concern about the leak again we did not hear anything back until we sent a follow up email the next day.
With these being new buildings we understand there might be issues such as leaks but we hoped for a much better experience when it came to communication.
Ashlar park is beautifully designed and offers many nice amenities. The community is quiet so far and the spaces are well kept and clean. Parking outside is free but fills up quickly so it’s nice having the option of covered garage parking for $125/month. Ashlar park is also very pet friendly!
Update to this review 4/3/24 - We experienced the same roofing leak issue again after it rained on 3/23/24. Along with our closet leaking again, the hall way on our floor also had leaking issues. They haven’t been able to find the cause of the leak on the roof even with patching over 200 spots. Since the leak is still an issue we need to keep a bucket in our closet and they also can’t repair the light fixture in our closet so we’re still waiting patiently on when this will be fixed…
On 4/8 we had a Quincy housing inspector come and look at the ceiling issues in our closet. He was going to write a violation if management did not address the closet ceiling issue. Management was notified and this seemed to accelerate the process of having this issue fixed after dealing with this for a month.
4/17 We heard back from management today that the ceiling work is complete. They also will have the closet carpet shampooed due to damage that occur while the ceiling was worked on. Management also reviewed our request for concessions and we came to an agreement.
As for the roof leaking issue, I was told that the issue was that there was condensation along the pipes in our closet ceiling which was causing water to leak into our closet. We only experienced leaking water into our closet only when it was pouring rain out so hopefully the work they did will prevent condensation leaking into our closet...
