Country Market Liquor in Quincy, IL offers a surprisingly large and diverse selection of bourbon—especially for a store that operates out of what was once part of a full grocery store. While it now stands independently, the footprint is large, and bottles are scattered across multiple displays throughout the shop, so you’ll want to explore a bit rather than sticking to just the main bourbon aisle. I was pleased to find familiar brands like Green River, Wilderness Trail, Starlight, 1792, Heaven’s Door, and even a store pick Knob Creek tucked into a back display. I ended up walking out with a Bardstown Origin Series Bottled-in-Bond—a bottle I’ve been curious to try, and the pricing was fair. That said, my overall experience felt a little off. The staff member working the store was attentive, possibly too much so—I wasn’t sure if she was being overly helpful or watching me closely for other reasons. The vibe made it a little harder to relax and browse as I usually would when discovering new bottles. Still, nothing negative happened, and she may have just been doing her job a bit differently than I’m used to. If you’re a bourbon fan passing through Quincy, it’s worth a quick stop to see if anything interesting is on the shelf, especially since their inventory is scattered throughout the store. Just be ready to look around—and maybe keep your phone in your pocket if you’re taking pictures for your own tracking like I do. I might stop back in if I’m in the area again.

County Market 48th & Broadway is the finest grocery establishment in Quincy. This store in particular is a standout even within it's heritage of Niemans stores familiar to Quincy for the last century or so. Leisurely, relaxed atmosphere and an overall fun shopping experience. There is one apparent store wide issue that I'll discuss shortly.

Departmentally, produce is always eye catching and well stocked. The bakery, lunch counter, deli, and specialty meats and cheeses are represented well. Their meat department and custom butcher shop is always stocked with unique and colorful ideas for the indoor and outdoor foodie. And the general shopping area is well thought out and easy to navigate.

Its obvious this store takes special pride in its beer, wine, and spirits shop. Top shelf libation for the beer lover to the well travelled connoisseur. This department never disappoints and just fun to explore.

If you enjoy comparison shopping or discovering new ways to spice up, change up, or shape up old recipes, this is that store. And after a lifetime of shopping in Quincy I have but one issue as predictable as the good qualities this store offers. Assistance is consistently at a premium. Good advice is available. Yet some associates while very helpful, seem rushed, even annoyed at times to go the extra yard for the adventurous eater or drinker.

Will always prefer and recommend this store as it towers over other Quincy grocers in all...

Went to the pet store by county market today and asked if the had anything to spray on my dogs itchy spots that was safe in case they ingested it. She said yes go to a vet and get a shot. ok I left and stupidly thought i would go to county market and c is they had anything like buggins. Yes they did and I thought I'll grab some chicken for us all to have as a supper treat. I asked for white meat she gave me 8 wings 2 thighs and 4 legs. She asked if I wanted sides and she gave me a huge cup of potatoes and 2 tbsp gravy and then said she could give me another 2 tbsp chicken gravy but you could tell it irritated her that i want gravy on my potatoes. I asked if I had to pay for it there she said no and walked away. I asked if i could have a bag to carry it and she said no not until you pay for it.I said I can't carry all this without a bag and she said not my problem. She was right and when I dropped everything and walked out it wasn't my problem either.Never EVER going there AGAIN. If you are to lazy to do your job let someone who will work have it .THIS 4830 broadway and in no way is a review of the other county markets as they are always...
