I have been frequenting Unraveled regularly since their grand opening in August 2024. There are ample opportunities (Early Bird Fiber Club, Happy Hour and Queer Craft Club to name a few) to meet other local fiber artists and just hang out at no cost to you! The owners are extremely knowledgeable, and they're happy to help you find exactly what you're looking for!
Don't know how to crochet or knit or just want to learn more? Check out the classes. They range from beginner level to more advanced, and the teachers are incredible. I've taken several of the numerous classes that are offered, and they have been wonderful. When I started going to Unraveled, I was strictly a crocheter. After taking a couple of classes, I have fallen in love with knitting, too.
They offer SO many different types of yarn. From reasonably priced yarn options to more expensive, hand dyed options, there is something there for everyone! They're also the only local place to purchase Premier Parfait Chunky (iykyk)!
The community and friendships this shop allows customers to create is so special. I've met people, including the owners, that have quickly become some of my closest friends. I love to hang out and craft at the shop several times a week, and it's quickly become my happy place.
It's magical to have a place to go where you'll always have a friend and always be accepted. It's a home away from home. I couldn't speak more highly of this shop, the owners and the...
Read moreI’ve recently been introduced to the wonderful world of crochet and thankfully found Unraveled via Facebook events! They have BYOP (bring your own project) events that are completely free and full of camaraderie. Everyone has been so welcoming and so eager to answer my newbie questions and give recommendations. I love that they support local artists! Small business supporting small business and that’s why I get everything I can here at Unraveled from hooks to multiple types of yarn.
Speaking of yarn, there is a wide range of pricing. The hand dyed skeins from local artists are of course a bit spendier but nearly every single skein I’ve gotten otherwise has been less than $5. Plus! They have a punch card so I am rewarded with a coupon for spending a certain amount of money. It’s such a cute little shop and I enjoy the community and having a free place to hang out. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention they have the most perfect little Boston Terrier named Beans as the shop dog and I am simply in love!!
They are downtown so of course you may have to pay for parking depending on the time, but that is a problem to take up with the city, not the lovely owners of Unraveled. All in all, support small business,...
Read moreI’ve been on a mission to uncover hidden gems in the most unexpected places, and I don’t hand out my approval lightly lately. That said, I believe I’ve found another one—though, in truth, it’s not all that hidden. Nice!
Unraveled Fiber, located on 6th Street just a few blocks from Lake Michigan, sits in a charming and pedestrian-friendly part of Racine.
This is one of those places you get the urge to enter and explore and see what's this whole thing is about.
From the moment you step inside, it’s clear that this shop is run with care and passion. The space is inviting, well-stocked, and have thoughtfully arranged layout.
What stands out most to me is how this place is a great perfect example of the spirit of a local business. In a world where soulless corporate chains dominate, it’s refreshing to see a place with real character, where quality and community take center stage.
If you appreciate local businesses, craftsmanship and a welcoming atmosphere, this is definitely a spot worth visiting if...
